i found this quality sealed sony cassette in a charity shop the other week . . .
any ideas how old it is ?
and what box is its perfect match ?
Beautiful!
I did see a booklet from a early 70s cassette
recorder, this tape was also in it !!
nice find! I like sony cro2 and metal tapes.
i had one of them tapes royal about 1977 i guess they were made after that sony changed the cassette
thanks guys
i have a tape in similar packaging, but i think its a sony normal bias 60 minute tape or something. sealed as well!
looks great, i always pick up cool old tape boxes when i see them.
I've managed to find a few unopened old blank cassettes, and they're staying unopened. One is a TDK which is SIMILAR to this (but I can't find the exact one. I have an opened one and it has a nice chrome stripe through the cassette, looks nice in old boxes with chrome on them.
I have an unopened one of these AGFA LNX 90's.
I have two opened but mint Memorex DB 90's just like this. Very nice...
I have a Hitachi just like this...
I have a load more. My favourites are between a Maxell UD I 60 like this one (looks like a white sticker on it, actually chrome finish)
and a lovely orange BASF LH 90 I have in mint condition which is identical to this...
If you're intending on opening the tape, royal, I would put it in a Sony box (if you have one). My Hitachi tape sits in the deck of my Hitachi TRK-8600. I think tapes look best in the deck of a boombox of the same make.
I had one of those tapes ben around 77.
Excellent photos Retro!!!
I too have a small collection of cassettes. Several unopenned.
I had a lot unopenned until one night I couldnt stand it anymore! So I tore into them.
Anyone else notice that a high end cassette from the 1980's freshly openned smells like a box of crayola crayons?!
Yeah, just by the graphics, Id say this cassette is from the 70's. Although several here have already said as much.
I think that the perfect BBX to show off this little bit of history you have would be an old Sony CFS of some sort. A 99 maybe? Not sure of the early part numbers....
I really dig the colors and fonts!

Ooh, that's a shame!
I like to leave mine as they are. I like the thought of the cassette being in there since the 80's or even the 70's and it's never been touched by anyone since it was made. Opening it now just wouldn't seem right to me, not after it's survived for so long like that.

Can't say I have, JLF.
But I have noticed the nice plasticky smell you get like opening up a boombox for the first time.

Oh, it's your site!
I'll take pics of my mintball cassettes at some point and upload them onto your site.
Okay?
