I can't believe it still works LOL Maybe you'll find one that doesn't work and you can get the front panel ? Good luck and even for parts it's cool to save a box from the scrap heap

oldskool69 - 2008-04-14 09:41

Well I don't suppose "Fire Retardant" was one of the heavily hyped features. Laugh Out Loud This is a testament to the quality of how things use to be built. Nod Yes

WOW! That took some heat to look like that, and still work.

This reminds me a lot of that old magazine ad for Marantz 2270/2275 receivers, where the guy's receiver was in a house fire and was charred, then soaked with water from firemen's hoses, and finally fell 20 feet from a bulldozer's scoop ... and still worked.

Can you imagine an iPod or even the new Lasonic surviving like that? I doubt it. They don't make 'em like they used to!

Classic stuff!

That's too much, in my opinion. Audio is sometimes a little more expensive Morth of here (in 'the Mainland'), and he is selling retail, not wholesale, but here in Hong Kong, buying from wholesale sources I can buy an UNburned one that works as well, for the approx. equivalent of 150 Yuan or sometimes even just 100 Yuan. A burned one like that would be somewhere between free and 50 Yuan.

Then again, something is worth what someone will pay, and maybe someone would think the unusual-ness of it worth paying for. Sure would be a conversation piece, sitting there looking like that and playing sweet music! [I might be tempted to make it look even worse on the outside, while tweaking the insides to make it sound even better, hehe...]
