I have discovered something that may throw a spanner in the works regarding identifying the production dates of Sharp boomboxes by the serial number. I don't have any pictoral evidence to backup my recent finding at this point, but my GF-4949's serial number reads 30900--- etc. I thought the first number was the year (1983), the second two are the month (September), and the next two are the day (00 - no day...)
What's going on here?
metad found out:
cit. METAD:
"""The sharp date code is on the serial number:
-we know it for sure:
-first figure is the year;
-two following are month."""
NEVERTHELESS:
Every rule has got it`s exception...
I don't think that digits four and five have to necessarily be the day. The remaining numbers could just be a counter started at some arbitrary number.
