I bought a Vector VMC-100 from Skippy two weeks ago and needles to say it's an awsome sounding box! (JVC PC-11 clone with better EQ.) But, lo and behold what do I find, locally and totally unexpected a week later...ANOTHER minty VMC-100! Who would have thought THAT would happen? Has this ever happened to anyone? Did you buy a box from a member or on the 'Bay and find the same one locally a few days later? (Waaaaayyyyyy cheaper?
)
Now...Skip, what is your return program like, how about a refund? I mean you REALLY put a hurting on my Swiss bank account for what you charged me for yours!
The one I bought from Skip (Made in '85) is on the bottom, local find (Made in '84) on top.
send the crappy one (on top) back to skippy--
he wont know the difference
Wait a minute! A true collector would want one from each year of production. Now you have one from '84 and one from '85. Completely different!
Of course, REALLY SERIOUS collectors go for monthly production examples and runs of consecutive serial numbers, with the ultimate aim being to own every single one of that model ever manufactured, including prototypes and variant models.
Yes I agree with Arkay! Now you have one for each year. Ira,shut up
!!!!! Or I'm sending that crappy Aiwa CS660 back to you for a full refund!!!!!!!
Wow,I can't believe you found another Vector VMC100. I think you corner the market now,LOL.

How do they sound? Can you compare them to something else that is more commonly known (Sanyo C-7, JVC-PC55, etc)?
Thanks.
I think it's still cool
Now you have some cool trade bait or keep it and have two
Either way Cool Scoop
oldskool thats a great looking box
Yes, oldschool is a boomboxers collector. He knows Quility when he sees it. Must be that German background.
Oldschool, we should start a sub-culture..
Ich bein ein boomboxer.

I would say better than the Sanyo C7 (Although it's been a long time since I heard one), but not as crisp as the PC-55 since it has a dedicated mid-tweet. It does pack quite a wallop though for what it is. These( along with their JVC kin) have a very well balanced sound.
You won't pound the earth (RX-C100/'Funken HiFi Studio) but you won't be dissapointed either. A sleeper for sure. And on external speakers...
!!!

oldskool that must have been exciting to find the second one. Is it just the flash or does the one on the bottom look better?

It's mostly flash but I will have the other one polished up probably this weekend.
the sleepers are always the most fun and the best deals --
i was thinking of publishing a list of sleepers --
---but , then -- would they still be sleepers?

Your right, sleepers are just that until they become mainstream. Publish the list and you will likely see more interest in those models, enough to take them off a sleeper list? You would have to publish and watch to find out.
oldskool -- for the first time you are right about something
i never heard of a sansui CP-7 -- but now you have made it famous and 'required'!!!
I certainly don't want one if you guys think they are any good.
So... are you keeping both then?!
One may go up for sale but I want to polish her up and maintenance first.
