I`m threatened by members.First time in 8 years!

this is not good ,i mean when you start getting aggressive with tpr or any of the other moderators you are just not respecting what they have done to make this site a great place,i think who ever did this needs to stop.

Why would anyone threaten TPR or another member?????????? I don't get it,I thought this site was for people who loved vintage boomboxes and walkmans etc. NOT to threaten people. This is why we have lost some really kool members here.

The moderators are the ones who keep this place running as it does, and it's hard enough to monitor all the members all of the time. It's our responsibility as members to make sure we help the mods out by behaving and by helping to calm down situations others may be involved in.

Sorry to hear you got threatened Jens, that's not on.

It seems as though cracks are appearing everywhere recently. As long as enough members are aware of this and care for the site, we'll be OK. In saying that, it does suck that almost every other day there's some sort of fight or disagreement.

I agree that people should step back and re-discover their love for what brought them here in the first place.

well...unbalanced. Perhaps by choice, perhaps not.

Pesonal attacks and cyber voiced hate and such are the vehicle of the jejune and infantine.

Sadly they are on the path they have chosen... best advice I can give you is to spiritually wish them well & let them go.

I for 1 have had a misunderstanding with this forum. Things were worked out. But to threaten someone, Is totally uncalled for. Let alone, A display of weak character to do it online.

The situation(s) have been handled for now, but it's getting kind of ridiculous. I really don't know how there can be misunderstandings of such few, simple rules.


AFAIK, the there are a few longer term members that have created some issues that had to be dealt with. This can create hard feelings, and I can tell you without hesitation that we are simply doing everything we can to maintain harmony, and keep the site strong.


Please, when you have a problem with something that other folks here say, don't take it personally. Step back, try to keep a good perspective of what we're all here to do, and move past it. Report it if it's out of line, and that's pretty much it. We will handle the situation for you if you will provide the info that allows us to take care of it.



We all love this place, and want to see it continue well into the future. Jens is a HUGE part of this site, and I am personally worried about his feelings changing regarding the care and passion he puts into what is essentially a volunteer effort to produce the BBDB. That is a labor of love.



Please, towards none more so than Jens, treat people here the way you wish to be treated, and respect the decisions made when moderation occurs on the site.

I agree with that - tell us who they are and what they say. They aren't going to bash someone in a PM if they know their usernames will be revealed and their words will be made public.

pretty ridiculuos,hope the mods deal with the offenders in the appropriate fashion,i can just speak for myself i log on here to chill and chat and fullfill my enthusiam for radio and bbxs with other folks who share the passsion,no one needs this bs,the drama has to stop ! Can't really say that would be productive.


First, there should be no assumption that we as moderators somehow magically know what has been said all of the time. It's entirely up to you to let us know when someone gets out of line in PM, and it is appreciated when you point out similar activity in the public forums. We don't read every single post from every single member.



Second, it is not the place for any member here to take something objectionable in PM and making a public topic about it. There is no room for misinterpretation on this- simply do not do it. Report it to a moderator and we'll take care of it- that is why we're here. I don't know what sort of information you would be looking for, but if the abuse is here in the public forum it is out there for everyone to see. Those who abuse the PM system, well, it doesn't get reported that often, but we tend to deal with those between the members involved. Again, no need to post stuff here that- let's be real- it has nothing to do with the point of these forums. If the member causing the problem in PM doesn't knock it off, they get shown the door. With the exception of one person who recently was made an example of (BEAST69), it generally isn't made note of publicly (yet again, no point, the issue got dealt with).



Third, mob rule accomplishes nothing positive. I cannot recall any online forum that I have ever participated, where such a form of "rule" has done anything less than destroy the forum.



I can ask, plead with all of you, please make our job boring. Get along. Act like adults. Enjoy what we are all here to do, discuss our passion of boomboxes, walkman radios, etc.

Amen. When I joined this forum I only did so after Googling and connecting to threads via search to sample a taste and decide if it was for me. What I saw and 99.9% still do see are a bunch of class act guys and gals who appreciate old school boomers, walkmans and such. There are jerks everywhere in this world and I have made no bones about being upset with personal attacks and cursing people out in recent and past posts.

Let's keep one thing clear ladies and gentlemen...I and your membership here is a PRIVELEGE! NOT A RIGHT! It is when we lose sight of this that inmates start trying to run the asylum. The moderators work hard to keep this site friendly for all. Paul, Jens, PF(Can't recall your name,yikes! ), bust thier asses to keep it clean while allowing us to be a bit rambunctious in the name of fun.

I'll tell you this much, I enjoy my hobby and it's been made more special by my association here. But, I can and will leave in a heartbeat if this kind of crap continues. I know, I'm just one of 4000+ members, so what? Well, if I tell someone about the site and they see people acting like their head is up their rear, they'll wonder what I would be like behind cyber walls and figure we all may be the same. I've seen too many people threatened for no good reason and I've been a member "less than a year!" New members have been here less than a week and are seeing this nonsense. And we wonder why only 300 or so of us are really active.

Jens, I am so sorry that you have to put up with this. Any moderator for that matter. Let me be the first to say I and many others appreciate what you do. It only takes one worm to get a whole bushel of apples thrown out. And that is the real shame of it all.

i belive we need to take a deep breath sit down and think things over before we start saying anything. i have enjoyed this site since last year and have seen how some members reacted in good ways and some i guess took it the wrong way but we need to learn how to keep our cool this is only a hobby and i thank the moderators for a great job in handaling the situation.if we need any help than ask them and i know they want to keep this site peaceful,and its in our hand to do the right thing, so please lets do the right thing for the sake of this site

After reading the last post of Panasonic Fan in this thread - I have to agree - it's not the best idea to make everything public. Report offensive posts to the mods and put people who write those posts on your ignore list - that sounds like a good idea

Nice to hear how you feel and how you intend to move beyond these unfortunate incidents. The views expressed by a few about you don't reflect the views of the majority of the members, you are an appreciated and valued member. As some have already stated it's sad that this has to happen over some plastic radios. There is a positive side, most members have proven they are beyond this kind of behavior and understand why we are here so lets get back to enjoying this site for what it's meant to be.

Much respect to our ALL our Mods. for a fantastic job! Let's all apply our love and passions to what brought us all here to this wonderful site. This bond is strong.

One thing many persons love to do in forums like S2G is to offend to others for many reasons, the discuss forums I think, is to give many ideas about a common topic: Boomboxes, walkmans and Media recording. No other.

Sad to hear something about "banned" but I think some times is absolutely necessary...
