Boombox Dreams / Nightmares

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-16 09:40

Anybody else have boombox dreams or nightmares? I must have 1 or 2 a week and they are usually very similar. I have them enough to wonder if I'm not boombox crippled upstairs.

Hey these things are valuable so I try to keep them warm at night. Laugh Out Loud

I'm really not that sick, maybe a little boombox warped but not that sick.

The dreams are really of a type of thrift store and everytime I have the dream it's like I'm going back in to the store on a different day. Some dreams there are numerous old boxes and other dreams they don't have anything. It's really freaking weird, I wake up in the morning feeling like I just went shopping for boxes.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've posted this exact same dream here in the past, not so long ago.

Theres a huge indoor flea market just down the road. My dream involves a 'thrift store' which is just behind the flea market building. The entrance is always the same in all my dreams, as is the layout of the thrift store -

small corridor to the left, small room to the left, big main room to the right from here leading through to a biggish back room.

The owner is always the same too. She's a slim lady, a bit grey and always smoking. She always has boxes, and weird stuff I ain't ever seen before!

I used to have this dream once or twice a fortnight, but haven't for a good few weeks.

I once had a dream that i entered a shop nearby..usually it is a shop for all kind of stuff but in my dream it was somekind of a clothing-store.They had boomboxes all around ..I spottet a VZ-2000,M90,J-1's and a lot of other ones hidden.I asked the owner of the shop in my dream how much they are..And he replied:50€ each!

I was like..Wow im gonna buy 3 now and come back later..Well i woke up then and realized that all was gone Big Grin

I still have the look of the shop in mind!

Beatbox I think I remember seeing your post, glad I'm not the only one.

It's been interesting for sure, I've been having these dreams for weeks now. The strange part is the store is usually the same and there are all kinds of boxes, boxes that likely only exist in my head but occasionally I see one of the grails.

Kid, in one of my dreams I bought three grails in one day also, what a let down when I woke up.

So MB, what's really interesting is the fact that we are having dreams about 'discovering' boxes in thrift stores. This is really very interesting. I would bet that a lot of folks who have boombox dreams don't dream about walking into an electronics store and purchasing a new off-the-shelf box. I think it's very much to do with the excitement and anticipation of finding something. The hunt and the adventure of it all. It seems that the place that always stays the same in every dream, and in my dreams, the lady with the cigarette is something our brains form to add to the scene. We know the place, we know there may or may not be wonders inside. It's like me visiting my regular spots here in Berlin.

So, I deduce from my dreams that I love finding boxes in the wild more than the thought of buying them new or even from eBay. (I've never had a dream about eBay). I mean, I already knew that. But what a strong emotion I must feel when I really do find boxes in the wild, that the same emotion should be translated into my dreams...

I had a dream that my wife and I were garage/yard saleing on day and I had found a few crappy boxes that day. We stopped at this yard sale that an older couple was having. They had a lot of cool stuff then I happened to look over and there was a brand new Aiwa CS880U still in the box with the packing foam and plastic bag and instruction manual and original power cord. I asked the gentleman what he was asking for it ? He said "Oh that old thing, well I had bought it new and only used it once to play some old classical music cassettes. He said you can have it for five dollars, unless that was too much money. I paid the man a 10 spot and left. That would be a great day if that really happened. Big Grin

I had one similar to these. I'm in a thrift store and I see 5 m90's lined up on the floor behind the cash register (I think this dream was in response to autobot's real life m90 flea market nightmare). I ask the guy how much for them and he says "they were $10 bucks apiece, but I think the owner will take less, they have been sitting there forever" I say " I'll pay you the full $50 - don't worry about asking the owner - then I fumble through my pockets and can't find the money - so I look in my other pocket and I find it - then I look back up to pay for them and I see the m90's on a cart dissappearing out the door to the backroom office. So I say "hey , I still want those" Then the guy says "the owner overheard us talking about them and checked ebay real quick and saw one sell for $1200, So he wont' sell them to you anymore". Then I woke up.

Another one I had was - I was watching tv and they were showing an auto show and bragging about this new red ferrari or something and as the car spun around I could see on both car doors really big was the adres logo that is on the toshiba boomboxes all lit up in green.

5 M90's? I think that qualifies as a nightmare watching all 5 M90's being wheeled away just before you laid down the cash.

I had a dream a few months ago, where my bedroom was laid out exactly the same as it is (full of boomboxes), but there was an M90 with them. I was p*ssed off when I woke up, instantly eager to play with it and remembered I don't have one! Eek
