Geeeeeeeeeeez...so many threads about the new Lasonic, and it doesn't even have a tape deck...cheap or otherwise...nope, it's just another iPod dock with big speakers. Talk about missing the mark...by a universe or two! The opportunity was there to do something new, fresh, great...instead, they take a much loved design, and turn it into yet another iPod caddy...what a shame. Yeah, lets see what the rest of the manufacturers do with this earth shaking, news making, over-hyped, much delayed marvel of ingenuity and retropod geared disappointment! Zzzzzzzzzzzzz...

My apologies to any members who are genuinely into this thing, I mean no offense. But, my idea of a boombox includes a TAPEDECK!...plugging an iPod into it should only be an afterthought...not the focal point of the whole thing. Ok, that's better, I've got that off my chest. Thank you.

I feel the same way, but logistically, when was the last time you saw anything release on cassette????

If they were playing the retro card then yup they missed big.......to bad to....seems like it has a lot of cool features.

As i just mentioned in another thread,it looks like some took crazy glue and stuck that stupid ipod in the center. They definately could have done better and kept the 80's look by hiding that ipod under a flip-up door.

im not interested ipods are rubbish, when they break down you loose the lot not just one cassette

I strongly agree with JC. Of course I'll respect the feeling of other member of the forum.

I'm sure that mechanical media like tape, CD or MD are dead when thinkinng about solid state storage shields less problems.

But what about the feeling of recording,
choosing the tape, setting the record level, the bias. You could CREATE. The different tape coloration, frec response, the different feeling across different tapes, boxes, concepts. The different decks, heads, features, technologies, ones figthing to lower the flutter, while others were putting a microprocesor to develop thousand of search features. The happines of years of realiabilty altough it's was a mechanical aproach ... So twenty years after I can said, is a tank !!!!.

Perhaps a would buy an RS-4300 without deck, BUT ONLY IF SOUNDS LIKE THE ORIGINAL.

I ordered one, but just waiting on a few details before I complete the sale. I think it's kinda cool. I don't really use tapes on my boomboxes. And I've always wanted a 931. I would have tried to mod it to fit my ipod, so lasonic has already done it for me Sorry to offend the "tape" fans

wow, Pretty strong JC, just the way i like my coffe, BUT true, i am not buying this nasty looking thing, although i respect all member who like this new box, i know that eventually i will end up with one of them in my hands, but in my opinion its not worth 200 dollars.

James thought's: Me I am thinking of Getting a Lasonic I-931 because It's big and CURRENT PRESENT Day ... and Manufactured Just like yesteryear's boombox's were.

Although this is a Cheaper Brand Known for in the Past Maybe this one might have a Little better manufactoring's in it.

After all it has to work like a computer now to be able to read these digit's an such and the digit's are somewhat more stable now as there are not any moving parts in them ....

&&& And $219.00 seem's like a bargain to get a HUGE (NEW) BoomBox... Versus what some of us on here are willing to $$$ pony up for something Questionable on the bay or elsewhwere...

Nice detective work for us I'm personally not worried about availability.If this sells,they will make more.As for the box having tweeters,I'm sure fake tweeters could fool even someone in their sales office.He might have been looking at the information available to us.Let's hope I'm wrong.
