Well I got My Rising today which was the reason I got into this crazy hobby in the first place,
I had this radio when I was about 16 years old and it was my prized possession.
Every where I went It was with me , until one night walking home with my girlfriend
at the time I was jumped by a carload of guys who thought I was someone else they wanted to kill.
By the time they realized they had the wrong person I was laying on the ground life less and battered and my girl had even been hit trying to get them to stop.
They stole my jewelry, busted my Rising with a bat and left us to rot.
It was hard to get over and it had been a few months before I even went out into public again.
Ive been in the hobby of collecting and fixing on these boxes for about a year now and the
Rising has eluded me on many occasion until now.
She is rough but with a
little allot of TLC she will be new again.
Fully functional with its scratchy controls and all but its definitely every bit the radio I remember and cherished as a young scrap.
Well without further adue my Rising.
That's a cool boox. I'll get one someday. Congrats!
yah man the risings a hardcorely cool radio and thats all there is to it. maybe somebody has a parts unit they could fix you up with the tuner glass. congrats! (nasty story by the way, thats messed up)
great sounding box -- and a happy ending
Wow that story is similar to mine, one night me and my girlfriend were walking to her house. My girlfriend looked back and told me we've got company I looked and eight guys jumped out of a van told me to lay on the street they stole my Sharp 688. They stole my girls chain molested her and one of them even said lets take her, lucky one of them had some brains and said no. She ran into her house next thing her brother came out with a 357 magnum by that time they were gone.
great score
My bad Transamguy congrats on your long lost box and hows the Conion project going?

good to see you are re-united again. The Rising is an under rated box, I'm surprised they don't sell for more on ebay.
That's an almost flawless classic design - how a boombox 'should look'.
I hope you can purchase a new tuner window for it, transamguy.
great box man ,if you had a table saw and some 1/8 inch thick high grade plexiglass ,it would be fairly easy to replicate the tuner window.
Dude that is so awesome ,congrats on getting a rising finally! I'm sorry that some punks beat you up for yours years ago though, what a sad world!
Many happy returns...
Frank without doubt you will bring her back from the limbo she's been in.
They are awesome boxes and quite hard to find.Congrats!!!!
Sad back story, but with a great ending now that you have found another Rising 20/20. Very classic, good-looking box!
Not to risk hijacking a thread, but I read a lot of references here to the Rising 20/20, and can easily see why, from your pic. I haven't found one yet "in the flesh", but have found a Rising that says 16/16 on it (the numbers are large like on the 20/20, but out towards the outer edges, rather than towards the inside). I can't find much about it... anyone know anything about that model?
I am very happy you were reunited and more importantly, alive!
Excellent! One of my favorites Ive yet to own!
Hey Frank, do you think it would get an led tuner dial light like Kittmaster's C100 kit?
