I finally got a Marantz PMS-7000! I've wanted one of these almost as long as an Aiwa cs880. I is a very nice unit(IMHO) and has a nice warm smooth sound to it,and is built with quality throughout. I had to replace the cassette belts, that was very easy. I just have one question for you guys who have one.Does the dial light stay on all the time while operating on AC? I think my bulbs are burn't out,as I am getting power to them but the lights do not work.
But anyways, here she is,I will post pictures of all 4 of my Marantzs together soon. Please post your comments,I love to hear them.[URL=[URL=http://imageshack.us]

Congratulations! It looks really great, and high quality. I bet it sounds suuuperior!
How can it be that this magnificent box, being after all a product of unknown peoples design inspiration which is independent of your input skipster, is so admirably appropriate to your outstanding collection?
I recken', it is your Karma, then, without doubt, merely by taking thought, you are able to manifest to exquisite Boomster.

Thanks so much everyone for the very nice comments.I really am lovin it. It really is pretty big unit. When I open it back up to replace the dial light bulbs,I'll snap a few pics so you can see the inside. It is built like a battleship in there.

Nice Skippy, I love those Marantz 3 pieces
Did you get that off ePay? How does it compare, sound wise to the other boomboxes you have?
skippy - i think Arkay has a ton of these -- so he is the answer man for whatever i dont know

A "ton" would be an exaggeration... but I do have a couple of 7000s, and some others from the series. I have one PMS-7000 without speakers and with damage, for parts, so if yours is missing stuff, let me know.
Yes, the lights should stay on. THE BEST source for vintage Marantz light bulbs that I know of posts under the name dgwojo on the AudioKarma discussion board. I'm not sure how up he is on the lights in boomboxes, but he has (and knows) all the lights for vintage Marantz home stereo stuff, reasonable prices and quick, polite service. Worst-case scenario, if he doesn't know the lights you need for that model, pull the old ones out and send him a pic with any markings, and he should be able to get you original replacements.
Great find there; that is one of my favorite boxes. CONGRATULATIONS, Skippy!
Thanks guys. Peter Yes I won it on Ebay,I think it is probably the best sounding radio I have had personally. Ira compared it to his Conion CF100F because I had one of those before. Ira thinks the Marantz sounds better, but the Conion is louder.I think he is correct. Thanks Ford and Devol-toni and Arkay,I ordered some dial bulbs from a guy here in the states that I got some glass fuse type bulbs for the cassette player display on my JVC PC550C.
Congratulations,
skippy!
That's been one of the boxes on my shortlist for a little while now!
Nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The cass door has the "marantz look" from its vintage cassette decks ...
How does it sound ?.
Champagne rules! What a sweet looking contraption! So many knobs
UE won the stripper version with no knobs --
so kittmaster made him a wireless remote !
It sounds very nice and accurate and it is quite loud. The thing just oozes quality. The whole front face is a big piece of aluminum It has aluminum knobs and switch barrels, the tuner variable resistor is really big It has a very high quality tape mechanism just like the Marantz tape deck. The main unit is a preamp and the speakers each have their own built in amps. It also has the weighted tuning dial I just love it to death!
