Yeah, further investigation leads me to agree. Strange that Mesh's find Has WA-8000MKII written on it & not WA-8800.quote:Originally posted by agentorange:
A few corrections here. The top model is the WA-8800...
Thought you might know better Cris.quote:Originally posted by agentorange:
...It actually follows the WM-100 form-factor rather than the WM-10 (a better idea in my view)...

Do you have one ? if so , would you part with it ?quote:Originally posted by isolator42:
...very sweet.
I suspect the sound isn't exactly blow your socks off stuff...
Sony's best stuff really had the "want one" factor, don't you think?
You can see that the cassette mechanism is based around the WM-10.
Strange that the WA-8000 is so different from your WA-8000mkII.
This is the WA-8000:

that shortwave cassette is super rare man. the sound is amazing for a tiny speaker i mean its a really nice little radio.
i have a couple dual conversion shortwaves by sony from this era. i think that sony did have some trouble with bad caps from this era.
it was corrected fairly early on tho.
if i am not mistaken i think i recently saw one of those on a shortwave radio site going for two hundred or so bucks.
us boomboxers will pay some pretty crazy money for stuff.
the shortwave guys tho now they spend some insane cash on older units.
i really love this cassette shortwave you have here.
make a slinky diopole and see what you can pick up.
the reception will blow you away with that little sony.
