...I found a Sony CFS-W30L playing in the upstairs of a charity shop.
It's missing the aerial, but was still playing FM very clearly in Stereo. Other than the absence of an aerial, it looks mint, very clean and shiny. It's definately not been knocked about. It only has a tone control, but the design is pretty unique. It's from 1986. I like it! It sounded better than I would've expected it to. I haven't yet spoken to the shop owners about it, I'll save that for the next time I go in. I was considering seeing if they'll let me swap it for another radio. What does everyone think, should I get it, or not? I'm trying to cut down on the number of radios I own, and I'm still undecided. Is it worth it?
Here's a picture of the model.
Hey R.A. go get it, its nice looking box. Worth, worth, worth.
Worth?
What is worth?
Worth is, if you like it!
If you want it, take it, change it, of course!
I did the same at my friend.
I wanted the sound-technic, he wants only a radio, uninterested which.
Make it so.
I would take this nice box!
Oh you GOTTA jump on that R.A.!
I had a single deck version when it came out and quite enjoyed the sound and simplicity and clean design. I saw one at the recyclers last week that looked salvageable but chose a National RX-C52 for $15 instead. But now I wish I got the Sony too!
Don't make my mistake, get on it before someone else comes along and takes action, and it's ALWAYS the radio's you find in the wild that seem to be the most special.
Rock On.
I used to *love* running into people with boomboxes like this Sony when I had my 3D7...
Thanks for the replies!

I can bet! That big centre woofer'll blow away the Sony no problem!

, and especially ones you find at the dump. There's nothing better than saving a nice old box at the eleventh hour!
I might get the box then. The nice condition really made it stand out to me. If the thread hadn't attracted much attention, I'd have probably left it assuming it wasn't 'good' enough or interesting enough. I know it's up to me whether I like it or not, but it's always nice to get a box when other people like the look of it too!
If it had bass & treble controls Rick, I
would have jumped on it. There's just something a bit lacklustre about a box with only a tone control!
I find it nice to show our finds each other.
Therefore is this forum.
And the enjoying of a box lays in the eyes of the peoples.
I like nearly all old boxes.
