Hey guys, How much should i pay for a GF 777, 909, 1000, 9292, im good or mint condition?
Im looking to buys some but i dont want to pay to much, any help is good, thanks
Johan
Hi Johan, and welcome to s2g.
That is a difficult question to answer, for a number of reasons. All the models you mentioned would be considered "upscale", so would carry a substantial price in markets like ebay. Bottom line is, it depends on what you are willing to pay. You could post in the bbxs wanted forum. You may be able to strike a deal with other members here. If you have thrift stores in your area, check them out...bbxs (often in complete, and mint condition) can be found for dirt cheap!
By the way, just so you know, there is an announcement concerning this kind of question. Click on Ewen's post above.
Good luck with your search.
IMHO -
You 'should' pay/offer what that box is worth to you at that point in time, and if that meets the expectations of the seller, and/or is higher than others offers if in a bid situation - then lucky you.
If you are are really interested in current market value, then you could personally track sales on ebay over a few months to get an idea - although this is narrow in focus and is likely to return a higher average value due to ebay attracting high sale prices. Ebay is not the place (a few exceptions of course) to grab bargains.
Those GF-777s are pretty rare and only come up maybe once every 10 years so expect to pay about $2,500 US for one that even powers up.
I just happen to have one in wonderful condition and might let you have it for $2,499.
Hate to say it, but 777's are dime a dozen. At any given time there's like 10 of them on Ebay

Curious? what do you consider ( Not Much
) for anything MINT
Less than you james alot less
.
I'm a pretty firm believer that the rash of 777's on ebay over the last 6months isn't going to last forever and they'll start (or already have) finding their ways to collectors who won't be reselling them.
Now is a good time to get a 777 for well under the thousand dollars they seemed to peak at a year or two back, but in another 6 months who knows. Theres a finite number of these things and I fully expect prices to go up as they are listed less and less over the next year.
I guess the trick is to just work out how much you want to pay for one and keep bidding that amount on ebay until you either get one or need to reevaluate how much you want to pay.
Just my opinion from what I've seen anyway.
Rock On.
Just for starters, I paid $425 for a Complete and Fully serviced Sharp GF-919(by a certified technician) from a well respected S2G member. That was worth it to ME though.
I lucked out and got mine for $265 USD but it wasn't mint (cassettes didn't work). I'd probably guess at least $600 and higher on an absolute mint box.
well i have 2 of them gf-777 that both work but each has its unique problems .. and both they work still just fine and i have the repair part for one of them and the knowledge of just how to fix the other one - slow the speed of the cassette deck's by adjusting the motor on the inside of that one and the other one needs a new power switch installed of which was sent to me by RG6873 the same person whose listing was stolen kinda but that's another thread

I agree with the statements on the "un"-rareness of this model. It has got to be the most historically overpriced based on availability of any boombox. There is rarely a day within the past 2-3 years that there hasn't been multiple listings for this model or the Japanese domestic equivalents.
One recently sold for just over $500, seemingly mint and it even came with the original box. I fail to see how any other model outside of a verifiable sealed NOS model would be worth more than that.
You should definitely be able to get a GF-777, 909/919 model for between $350-400 in good working order these days.

got my 999, which is like 909/919 a japanese domestic version, for around $350 with shipping from HK included.
You'll find one at a decent price these days i guess
