This is possibly the most wonderful, oldest battery operated boombox, weighing in at 9,5 kilos and portable from Crown I have ever seen!
I do have the model number, but I'm afraid you'll have to wait after the auction. You know, just in case anyone out there nabs it from under me!
Check it out -
Two speakers, a handle, tuner, yep it's a boombox! (Cassettes weren't in wide circulation when these were out so the record player counts!)

wow - getitgetitgetit

it is made from tree!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE, JAMES!

I have seen a couple of theese no cassette so i wouldn't be interested but she shure is a might fine specemin.
I agree hands off james if you buy this you should be perminently banned.
Spells classic.

What kind of "tree" is it?
12 transistor.
I would like to see the circuit diagram of that.
Everybody make way for beatbox on this sexy veneered vixen!

Best of luck Beat

Yeah, that´s real oldstyle.
Record-boomer!

Good luck for getting!

My wooden "boombox", an SILVA:

There was one of those Crown portable systems in a shop nearby for several weeks. I went back to look at it several times, and wanted it, but the guy was asking $250 for it. I paid a lot less for the last Crown I got (different model, but almost as nice) and have never paid that much for a box, so I kept hoping he'd drop the price. In the end, I don't know if he did, but someone bought it, so I lost out. Okay with me; I want it at "my" price, or I don't want it.
That's a beautiful box, though. What doesn't show in the picture is that there are two metal things on the flat back side of it, so you can hang it up directly on the wall! Very cool wall decoration.
These were made primarily for the Japanese market. It shows in the design, if you look at it. There were a whole range of similar-feeling designs like it, but they are rarely seen outside of Japan. Crown made a lot of the best-looking ones.
Good luck in getting that!
A boombox that you can hang on a wall? Dude, that's awesome!
Arkay, it's good to see you back.

Hope you get it, Beatbox!

One of those '50s machines would be the ultimate focal point for visitors!

love the console, roman...looks really cool and retro

That is really cool - good luck BeatBox! I sure hope you win and then post one of your great reviews and pics!

James although the 880 sounds better than the 770 you will love the 770 i had one and they had a great sound, by all acounts it should sound much better than the likes of the m70 you will love it.

Thanks, fatdog. Nice to be back here and see familiar names again (like yours!).
That is a pretty cool box, especially when hung on the wall with the phono section folded down, like a cross between a vintage suitcase and a built-in hi-fi center. Very unusual, really good-looking and functional decoration, sure to be a conversation-starter. Build quality is so-so when you look closely, but hey, what do you expect from a portable built to a budget. For what it is, it's really gorgeous!

Thanks!
I got it at an fleamarket for 20euros!
That crazy dealer wanted to part it out, throw the radio and furniture away, for saving the recordplayer!

I said

and took the whole "box".

Between the speakers is a storage for records.
@beatbox: Can we gratulate? Did you get it? I hope so. It´s a pretty thing!

Arkay! Have I missed your stories of adventure and discovery!
Welcome back! Ive been wanting to discuss Marantz bbx with you for a while now... Its my new 'direction' in collecting.
