Hi Gang,
OK, here we have a simple question that should get a simple answer... Which one Boombox gets the most airtime in your life?
Add a reason why you pick that one regularly, if you want.
My primary listening box is my JVC M70. It has good balance of sound, weight and the overall best working tape deck of all my boxes.
masterblaster84 - 2008-10-02 12:56
The M70? JT that's a shocker, it's such a rare and crappy box!
I can easily see the M70 being the favorite of a lot of members.
For me it's my Aiwa CS-660 because it looks good, sounds great and already has some wear from use plus it's not worth as much as many of my other boxes. For those reasons I don't mind using it more than any other box. It's not my favorite box or best performing but it can hold it's own against some very nice boxes.
geoffhartwell - 2008-10-02 13:02
777
it looks and sounds great, and it was my first box, so it found a place in my kitchen and has stayed there ever since
I use my Aiwa CS600U the most. It sounds nice and warm, and has a great receiver.....
my m90 has been seeing the most use it showing its age
Modded GF777 as I like to party! And alot of the music I have simply demands bass.
I also think it's a really interactive box - when it's playing I find myself constantly twiddling dials and switches to get the best sound out of it for each track.
The stocker that gets the most is the 9292 due it's look/power/size combination.
for me its my pc 55
buckets of power
awesome sound
best tape deck ever in a boombox
My Rising SRC-2015 gets the most action around here.
I have two, both Aiwa's my 660 and ca 70 both sound amazing and both get used a lot !
M90 and M70
transamguy1977 - 2008-10-02 15:41
I like to rotate my 7 boxes but the ones that get the most use as of lately is my Telefunken M-1
Simply because its the best sounding of the bunch.
The M-70 is my all around carry around box.
Because it is a well rounded box with good sounds and portability plus it looks so darn kool.
For me its a toss up between my JVC PC-11 and Rising 2015. the PC pulls in stations from Detroit way stronger than the Rising and sounds better when hooked up to a CD player, ipod or live line-in. But when I listen to tapes and local stations the Rising gets the nod cause it BUMPS!
Peace,
Paul Z.
FOR ME I WOULD HAVE TO SAY MY FISHER PH-492
REASON I JUST HAS IT SEVICED FROM INSIDE OUT SO IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS BRAND NEW.
My old stand bye tends to be the blockbuster. It's a perfect balance of size performance, and versatility. It changes with me though as I go through fazes.I try to use them all.One thing that has greatly upset this routine is my "I kicker" Ipod docking station. If I use its aux-in with a 10-band home stereo equalizer,it's a total addiction!Bringing out the mids and highs in this way there is nothing that can touch it!PERIOD!

ghettoboom777 - 2008-10-02 21:38
Hi JT-I'd have to say for at home it's my GF-777H.
I love the bass and it sounds so great at low volumes.
Otherwise for outside I love the Sony CFD-G55.
I love the lit-up display and I know it's not a classic,it works great for everyday carrying around.Rare outside walks GF-8989II!!
Have a super weekend-Ghettoboom777.
Sears 2199
admirable choice BB --
my 2199 would see alot more action --if only it had speakers (really)

Good answer and so true. I usually play boxes a lot during the first few weeks I have them.
For me is the Tecsonic MX-900 cause is a real looker can't keep my eyes of it the reception is good but the sound is loud and thumping
.
I've been playing both my Fisher 492 AND Sharp 919 at the same time (side by side on the same shelf).
The PHILIPS d8958 (oldscool with cd), playing over 8 hours nonstop at my büro.
At home my PHILIPS PowerPlayer normally, this days the SOUND-TECHNIC for testing.
jaredscottfla - 2008-10-03 00:49
marantz crs 4803s and jvc 838
kid.sensation - 2008-10-03 06:19
My GF-999, cause it's the only one loaded with D's at the moment, has great sound and killer looks.Hate to lug around boxes to the next power-suply.
Second most used is the J-1..great looker and performer.
Panasonic RX-5500 at the moment.
GF-777.

SONY CFS-F5S and SANYO M9998 are both linked to the same i-pod dock in my office at home. Nice combination of sound!!!

llopez i want one bad tecsonic mx-900
At this point it totally depends on what I'm doing. For years it was the 777 on the kitchen counter but then when I found my MX-900 I started taking that out with us, as Lopez noted it's a real looker and it THUMPS ! I still want to see which one of my Boxes is the loudest... The C-100 definitely has the most bass and cleanest all around sound but I swear that the MX-900 would take it based on sheer volume capacity. It may not handle the bass as well as the Conion at high volumes but if you make a few minor adjustments it can go loader then most any box (at least the ones I've bared witness to)
OK now I'm just rambling on LOL
First it was the 777 ALL THE TIME !
Then it was the MX-900 for family outings
but now.... now is quite a different scenario LOL Now that the C-100 lives here it has a secured spot on the kitchen counter until our home addition is finished and we have a dedicated area in the house to display them all
I imagine then I will be toying with them all !
Oh and for yard work it's the M-70 (mine needs a little TLC and if a rock thrown from the lawnmower blade was to put a fresh crack in the case I wouldn't be AS devastated as if it were one of my more pristine pieces)
The MX-900 has a strong amp I'm sure if I put better speakers to handle the bass it would be a contender agaist the Conion C100F but I like it the way it is jcuttbeats if I come accross one I'll let u know.
Ive played nothing but my Marantz CRS-7810 for over a month straight now!
Just trying to get my moneys worth of use out of it!
what a weird model number !!
what thief sold you that trash ?
do you have the ONLY #7810 on the planet ??
and, seriously -- did you ever check it out with Arkay?
or WHERE IS ARKAY ???????????
7810 is my street address number...
So far it looks like more 777's getting mentioned than any other model number!
those are just the select members who have no ears
...........(kidding)
Ya, we all know that Ira sold his 777 in favor of WX-1 - which didn't even get mentioned yet - much to my surprise though
the WX-1 has the best lighting set-up of all the boxes --so its on very often --

WX-1 lighting is kind of like Sanyo 920 - green and hopeless
j/k - it does look pretty cool!

hey llopez maybe you didnt understand you said you had a conion c100f laying around for parts i was asking you about that not which box sounds the best
well now i got to say my jvc m-90
If I had an i931 I would play that.
A review on one of those would be sweet.
Needs to a a proper type review, not some american yahoo like me reviewing it.
English, yes, a nice proper Brit, a family man,
a man with two feet on the ground who knows his 3D ghettoblaster's from his FX700.
Thats what we need.
I use several, all over the house:
Kitchen - Panasonic RX-DT610 (shelf-system sound quality, no kitchen trannies for me)
Bathroom - Sansui FX-700R (runs on 4 AAs rechargeables, with adaptors, good sound too)
Dining room - Hitachi 3D95 (sound reinforcement from lounge system via FM transmitter - clear sound with great low bass)
Lounge: Sony ZX-7 (main hifi system's tape deck - it really is good enough)
Son's bedroom - Hitachi CX-W500 (CD, a remote & he plugs his iPod in too)
Bedroom - Sharp QT-V5E (used as a DVD player)
...but the winner for most use is the Panasonic RX-DT37 CD egg - it plays a "sleep inducement" CD on repeat 24/7 to keep our baby son asleep. It's been going pretty much constantly for about a year & a half without any trouble.
Beat that!

Dunno anyone like that at all...
Aw,
go on then

Then you can have the Hitachi back!

I wish I could write like you!
Panasonic ED-90 every day, I hooked it up to my TV -- who needs a home theatre system.
My Telefunken Studio 1............Even with one of the speakers not fully working, it still sounds better than anything else I own
When I'm hanging out in my room or if I don't have to carry it long distances I take my SCR-8 because it sounds like a really well balanced home system. For its size it keeps its composure remarkably well. If I need something small and portable I take along my RX-5010.
I switch back and forth between this,...
using it mainly for R&B, Jazz and Pop tracks 'cause it has the best highs and overall sonic balance of any box in my collection...
and this...
for Hip-Hop and Reggae tracks 'cause it's LOUD as hell and kicks out some nice bass!

Right enough
He's happy with the 3D, but I confidently predict he'll be alot happier with the i931. Although he'll probably want to keep something to play tapes & CDs on - plugged into the aux in...

Good for you. The 3D50 is a good 'un. Although it's from the cost-cutting era (along with less decent stuff like the 3D30) & the switches show this, happily the 3D50 retained the amp & speakers from the best, earlier models such as the 3D8 & 3D7. Consequently, it's sounds as good as those models & kicks hard.
I must have a look at mine to remind myself what all those buttons & sliders are for...BBDB helps once again:
Aah, I remember now - some good stuff hre... autoreverse deck, 4+1 band EQ, proper line-in... nice.
btw, the "dual enclosure system" means the left & right speakers are in their own sealed enclosures, separated from the centre woofer which uses the rest of the cabinet as it's enclosure.
