So about a week ago, I was around back of a Goodwill dropping some stuff off for donation. As I go in, I notice this guy unloading some office chairs from his car, and then I noticed a silver boombox sitting on the curb. I quickly donate my stuff and get back outside and ask the guy "Hey, are you gonna donate that?" and he says "Take it, it's yours". I thanked him twice and snatched it up.

This is my first boombox. I wanted to know if anyone knows what years these were made. Also, if you own one as well, post a picture in this thread! Here's a picture.

It doesn't look as good as yours tho.

Side note: I may be gettin' rid of mine soon... As good as the Crown looks, if I can't get an iPod to play thru it and add it into the rotation of boxes I regularly use, it's almost worthless to me in the long run. I can't determine how good the box really sounds because the line-in inputs suck!

I got one of this of JLF for a buddy of mine. It was in great condition, but i hear ya bout the line in's sucking a nut. (I dont understand why it does suck but it does.) However, what if you used FM transmitter? Or the tape adapter connection for the Ipod with the wire hanging out of the box? Just wondering because I like this box alot.

(The sound this box makes with a great tape is outstanding in my eyes however.)

I am trying to get a feel for what boxes I like the look of. As I look at more and more boxes on this site and around the webs, I like the Crown even more. I am actually not a fan of any Lasonics I've seen, too flashy for me. I like some of the Sanyo and Samsung boxes.

It's not that the line-in is bad - it's that it seems like it simply doesn't work - no sound, no nothing.

that could be so many things..some of the boxes that had the same problem turned out to be broken traces in the circuit board easy fix but it could be something else so you never know until you dig into them
