Far as I know, D8444's were all branded Philips, while D8443's were branded Magnavox. (If someone has a Philips D8443 or a Magnavox D8444, I'll gladly eat my words. Munch!)

I own the D8443 and D8444 and both are PHILIPS boxes...

The 8443 has no LW and the 8444 has it, I assume.
(There probably wasn't a Maganavox D8444, though, since the Magnavox brand wasn't sold in areas where there was LW radio.) (Or am I wrong again?!?)
