Simply ravishing man! Ravishing!
Thats looks really good, is it just me or does it look better with the black woofers??? Dunno, the white ones were awesome, but I'm really digging the black.... IMO....
Never the less, first class resto-mod of a great box!
Johnny
HIGHLY impressive work there!!!
Because of the shine on that paint, it looks like a factory hook-up!
On a related note, are those Rising 20/20 woofers? Personally, I think you should get those brand new Lasonic woofers you suggested and throw 'em in there.
To me, they'd look better because of the black surrounds and sound better (longer excursion)... because of the black surrounds.
Looks great! You should send the previous owner of that box some pics...he would be VERY impressed

Thanks all .I love doing these restorations.
The best part of all though is sharing with the S2G community.
I love the feedback and sharing the knowledge so that
others can take on the task of getting these great plastic boxes back to their former glory or better.
I am making another cassette on it right now and Ill tell you what this box has a nice presence. And the seperation for a boombox is incredible sometimes you cant even pinpoint where the sound is coming from.

They are Rising woofers.
I bleached them a while back and thy didn't come out very good.
Im skeptical about using them because im afraid the bleach may have weakened the paper.
Does anyone know the specs on the Lasonic replacements??or has anyone used them as of yet???
dibs
another one brought back and looks better than new , awesome job .
The Crown looks great Frank!!!!
I love the white woofers. Super Job....

I use mostly duplicolor, rustoleum and krylon.
Most what you can find in the local auto parts stores.
In a word...
STUNNING!

Well... looking at the pics I had from when I opened up my i931, the woofers are 15 watts/4 ohms.

Perfect.
Exact replacements.
Go for 'em, man!
I don't know about the Crown woofers, but like I said before, the Lasonic woofers pump out more bass than the Rising woofers. It also doesn't hurt that the price per woofer is reasonable too.
Very sweet looking box
Hell yeah man! That color combo is ill as F@#k! Def get those lasonics in there. Looks insanely good!
On a side note, Mono, do you know if the Lasonic replacement woofers are a match for a Rising 20/20? (size, hole location, impedance, etc.)
Peace,
Paul Z.
Sorry for the jack!

I don't know... I've never opened my 20/20.
Really phenomonal work, you raise the bar higher with every restoration!

Amazing face box
That Box Looks Amazing!!!
So when you opening your business. I for sure would love to have a couple of my boxes redone.
Wha' cha' charge, huh?
Custom JVC looking like that? That would be amazing.
Frank may I suggest to keep the black woofers they really blend in great!!
I think this has to be one of your finer moments in restorating a boombox!! (word)!

If I had a good way to reproduce the lettering I would probably be able to restore/paint most any boombox case. Anyone want to be a partner????
I wouldn't know what to charge tho because I usually have anywhere from 5 to 10 hours into it from start to finish that includes taking it apart and putting it back together.

Thanks Juan and everyone for the positive vibes.
The more I see it with the black woofers the more I am liking it in black.
