I was in Brighton, having just done the London to Brighton cycle ride & happened across a Hitachi TRK8290 (or something very similar) in the front of a house amongst a load of stuff (toys, etc.) with a sign saying "take what you want, it's all free". The boomer looked OK & had it's own sign on saying "tape doesn't work, but radio has very good sound quality".
I had no way of carrying the thing, so had to leave it
If you're in the Brighton area, it might still be in
Egremont Place
dam iso
you could of straped it to your back or even the bike
tempted to go find it but will costin fuel and not to say it's not gone
was in brighton last week with the other have - she was getting feed up with me checking every shop for boxes
not even one in the vintage/old junk shop with the turn style door
did you dig out that little panny yet ? lmk
cheers B
I'm Hip!!! You could've put some wheels under it and rode it home like a skateboard!!!
I see there's a couple of knobs missing off of the top, but I'm sure the repairs are minor. I'd go back and get it quick!!!

(Getting plane tickets now) Can someone hold it for me?

btw, that's a pic from the 'base, not the actual boomer...
Came into work today to find that someone had put a (pretty trashed) Hitachi 8190e by my desk. A few workmates know I'm into boomboxes and this had been rescued off of the streets of Brighton for me 'while drunk' by one of them!!
Anway, it may have been kicked around a bit since Iso saw it but still has a lot of usable bits and bobs - I have an 8290 that needs some bits so hopefully will make a useful donor!
did it still have the note on it saying the tape deck was broken but the radio sounds good?
No note but I'm assuming it was the same one.... how was the London to Brighton?
Knackering!
Back in the late 80s it was easy, but now I'm forty & tipping the scales at over 200 pounds it's a bit more of a challenge.
Nice to spend the day in Brighton & get some decent beers down when I get there though...
Go any pics of the Brighton hitachi?
so you didn't pedal back then
i know that one way would be some ride - i know the route
I've never done that, but know a few who have. They are called "fit people" or loonies, whichever suits
lol if we were all able to go get it, might as well call this a rat race
