I just noticed that my Aiwa CS-W200U mini has blanks (for punch-out) on the top where controls ought to be... and probably are... on higher-up models.
I've seen this money-saving feature in cars these days (the dash of my nearly accessory-less Sprinter van actually has a pathetic looking panel of ten punch-outs, only one of which is filled with a button), but I've never seen this on a boombox.
I guess somewhere in Aiwa-mini production, cheapness must have ruled. A "one case fits all" sort of thing.
Does anybody else have this cost-cutting feature on a boombox??
now have a look at this aka box:
the aiwa-cs-w20:
I believe for different reception ranges.(tv)
other difference is the auto reverse drive instead of equalizer
BB --on other boxes --the punch out plugs are there --but often very subtle.
Jens... each of those aka's looks like it has one more knob and one less blank than mine does... but not the same one!! And none of them have all 3 punch-outs filled with controls! Weird. (Great photos, as usual!)
Ira... the only other blanks I've seen are on boxes are where one version has a voltage selector and another version doesn't. But I'm on the lookout now for more!
