There is a local audio video company in town(a competitor)
Any how they have been in business since the 50's and started as a little maw and paw outfit.
They are a pretty major outfit nowadays and we bring alot of plasma tv's there for repair.
I peeked my head in to their repair facility while I was dropping off a set today and it looked top notch.
Any how I talked to the owner about my silly little hobby and asked If they would be able to do repairs on a component level on boomboxes.
He pleasantly smiled and said no problem , in fact he was kind of pleased to hear about my hobby because he is a collector of vintage gear as well.(not boomboxes though)
I don't have any presently that are in need of repair but its good to know in the future I can bring one if I cant figure out a problem my self.

that is awesome frank its always good to have a shop for those real hard ones

That is GREAT news man, we had a shop in town that just closed up...he said, people don't repair radios and tv's anymore.... They just buy a new one

We had a lot of shops from the "ViennaSound" (WIENSCHALL)group. But they all closed a few years ago.
Also the little "Radiobastler" shops, where you can buy parts when repairing self.
Hard times for old electronics
Some electronic shops give "wrecking benefits" when buying a new part.

So be happy to have a repairer next to you!

Very cool. Its great to know you have a shop you can take older stuff to get repaired. A lot of shops won't even look at it and some even give you a hard time about wanting to get that old stuff fixed......

Not really related but, I get funny looks at pawn shops when hunting for boomers locally. They tell me "We don't even bother with those things because they don't even hold they're value" I've never been back since

I've found the same thing here Adam and Skippy. Their reaction is kind of like they are really saying "that old junk has no value and your stupid for even asking, we're not dumb enough to give $1 for that old crap". Little do they know what value some of these old boomers really have.

I've found most of the pawn shops around here are run by aggressive, pushy, arrogant loud mouth jerks anyway and they aren't very friendly to boot. Don't know if that's the case everywhere but around here it is.
