Lasonic 935 owners step inside

kittmaster - 2009-01-11 19:39

I have a parts needed thread for mine I'm rebuilding, so if you have anything, please look at my list so we can work something out

http://stereo2go.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/6576054064

Ok for the question for asking the step in. My 935 has all of its cassette teeth, but the question I have is on the left deck. The left most button "play" has two positions dedicated to the play function but the left most key is pressed down all the time. Looking inside, I found that the spring is forcing it down all the time and there is no lever to pull it up. Does anyone else's do this? Me personally, I think it looks dumb, is this the way its supposed to be?

Or is there supposed to be a long play key that takes up two positions?????

Any help is appreciated.

Chris

chris that extra play button is actually an reverse play button it switches from one side of the tape to the other ,and its not supposed to stay in the down position constantly one you press it ,it should pop back out .

damn, that's weird.

I'm confused because the left most switch inside isn't attached to anything or anywhere. But there is a spring that is forcing it down all the time.

The autoreverse switch that does work is the second to the right. So I'm confused as to what your describing. It does makes sense, but that isn't how the hardware seems to be setup.......

It is setup like the image below, the spring pushing up the two buttons, but without a lever on the (from the back now) far right, it pushes the key down all the time....... Confused

Could the lever have broken off cleanly? Confused

Maybe somebody replaced the button at some point with an original Lasonic button, just not the correct one.

The deck seems to be in perfect working order. I fixed a 935 in the past, but I can't recall because it didn't have any of its teeth keys. So I really don't know what is right. What i do see are individual key positions and not a long singular key landing/mounting point.

I don't see where the lever could have fallen out, its bound by a few layers of metal frame and the button wasn't damaged or moved when I first opened it.

Hey Kitt

Sorry, I missed this post. Just catching up on S2G, my face has been glued to my thesis paper for a few weeks now. Red Face

My 935 is in nearly new condish. So, I wouldn't have any parts...

And, I don't think I'll be cracking her open anytime soon!

Had to resurrect this topic.....Floyd, I can't find the info you mentioned out the key that is always down, did you have a picture that you sent at one point??

jvc.floyd - 2009-04-04 09:42

i dont think so chris ,it might be as simple as a bad return spring on the cassttte button.

Floyd,

the spring is in place. Looks like this:

Always pushes button down, there is not metal to push it back....

I really need an image.....damn.
