hi yall, i wanted to share these time travel pics...
these are a few pics i took personally back in the day when they use have the boxes displayed in the windows then fast forward about 25 years later how the stores changed...
1984
2009
This is awesome
Wow!! That first photo's incredible!
Very indicative of the changing retail shopfronts worldwide though, I'd say. Electronics is limited to the department stores down here now, and 'pharmacy supermarkets' seem to be everywhere.
Thanks a lot Blaster. Wonderful!
Rock On.
WOW if only I could travel back into time and come back with 2 dozens of new boomboxes
. Great pic blaster
.
Ah, so you were the person who took that pic...
Then =
Now =
yup..
i got one more coming soon..

Need a time machine!
Thanks Blaster, that is a great photo!! Be nice to have a brand new b-box like those!!
Nice pic. Really kind of sad when you stop and think about WHERE have these good times gone. Like Edith and Archie Bunker sang, Those Were The Days, thanks Blaster!!

Blaster,The pics are bloody brilliant man..i pass some old shops every day that are now beauty salons and pizza shops,,sad man..all past history..but great history..
I'm with you gettoman.
What the hell is a "Nail Bar"? High Street retail is dying...
WOW nice pics! Man that reminds me back in NJ and NY when I was a kid. Looking in the store windows wanting one of them!
I remember walking around downtown Chicago in the mid 80's and seeing windows like that. Little did I know it would be a thing of the past very soon....

Wow!!!! hard to believe that's the same store front, that is a night and day difference.
A lotta shops in downtown Philly used to look like that... I've got so many memories of seein' those storefront windows. Like the first time I saw a Wheely, I thought it was a black Conion wannabe 'cause it had those bars on the side but didn't have the Conion name on it. The same applies to those Unisef and Crown boxes - I thought they were Lasonic clones.
I didn't have the respect or the knowledge of those boxes that I do now. Since I already had a box, I never really thought about tryin' to buy others. I mean, I used to see a champagne colored Trident in the window of a corner store on 13th & Market and wanted that mainly because a not so close friend of mine from around the corner from me had a brown/tan one - I didn't sweat it tho... 20+ years later, I bought that box on eBay.
Other than the fact that I can't go back in the day to relive those moments of seein' those boxes in the windows of those electronics shops and record stores, I wish to death that I had a camera to snap a bunch of pics like Blaster did.
Great Shot, too bad it's a thing of the past
That first pic brings back some wonderful memories.
The second one just made me sick to my stomach. What a load of cheap looking trash.
Before...Don't blow your entire savings.
After...Don't squeeze the Charmin.
Just looked again & there's a TRK7620 (which became the 3D7) at the bottom... in 1984!
Memories indeed. All the electrical stores in Tottenham Court Road (London) used to look like that... wonderful times.
today it looks like this mostly...:-(
This reminds me of Tremont Ave in the Bronx back in the day!!! Today, most of those stores have been replaced with Beauty Salons, and Dollar Stores!!!
