So i decided to dig my "Fully working" one out of hibination and make this vid just for you guys.... Big Grin

I prefer the look of the APM 205s to the 909s...i just need to take the mesh off for a bit of restoration.....

I had a 909 when they first came out in the late 80s early 90s...a FH-909cd with the matching cd player for about £850 plus £150 for the PSQ-3A Turntable....

It was sold not long after when i got my first stack hifi...

Id been looking for years for another one until i got this fully compleat "MINT" one of ebay for £30 a couple off years ago.... Eek

The displays are a lot clearer but i had the halogen lights on and it was sunny...... No No

ENJOY..... Nod Yes

i love the fh series, nice quality and kiiler loud, that fh909 is one of my faves, and i saw the 2 on ripoffbay for 99.00,the only downside is,as with most fh stereo`s,they dont take battery`s..wicked stereo`s tho,,very nice..

Oh yeh, nice bit of ice-t there aswell, got them tunes myself..

Very nice unit. I really dig the first speakers you had on it. The twin horns look like they would scream. Very impressive and looks heavy. Heavy is reliable. Smile
Peace,
Paul Z.

Soon she will be portable...... Big Grin

As soon as i can get my hands on a EBP86 my mate an electronics expert is going to cofigure a 15v DC socket in the back of the amp......... Cool

i have two 215rs with the remotes. they both have soem issues. the tape decks work intermitently.
i tell you what tho.
they are really nice units. i also still absolutely believe the bass on these is second to none other box i have heard.
i heard one of the 909 variants but i did not find it as loud as mine.
this was the boombox that fueled my desire to start buying bigger vintage stereos.
they really are amazingly good.

billpc55 - 2009-04-08 15:57

i spy a wee mc303 in one of the vids.

Thanks for the video. I feel relieved to say that this, in my view, is definately not what I would consider a booombox. Therefore any sound advantages the sony FH has over my Panasonic RX-DT680 are clearly justified and expected. The sony is a nice unit especially if you're looking to port a mini-system. Thanks again for your video!!! It was very detailed and I appreciate that.

They don't take batteries? What a downer! Frown I can totally understand why they wouldn't tho... As powerful as they are, you'd probably need 20 D-batteries to run it! Big Grin Yeah, that box is basically a compact home stereo system.

If that Sony is anything like the Sony my friend's sister had back in 1987 (about the same size... can't remember the model number), I know that thing is STUPENDOUSLY LOUD Eek and puts regular boomboxes to shame!!!

Thanks for the great video, FH-eaven! Cool

from what i have been told these could be had with a rechargeable battery pack that was fitted at the sony factory in place in the power supply.
i know some people dont think these things are boomboxes, but i absolutely think they are.
you are right they are extremely loud and sound fantastic.

Congrats man. It's a killer !!!!
Cool tape loading mecha. I love it.

im.out.of.hear - 2009-04-10 00:37

yeh bill is right, you can actually buy a battery compartment that replaces the power supply..but unfortunately, they are as rare as the dc33 battery unit,i`ve only ever seen a battery unit for a fh7,that was on ebay last year sometime, you hardly ever see them for sale which is a real shame..

billpc55 - 2009-04-10 12:20

yes the battery pack is extremely hard to come by.
making a battery pack is not as hard as one might believe.
you do need the proper kind of battery the charger ect.
i am not going to bother with mine.
there is little or no doubt tho these running on a battery pack are not going to run at the same power as ac.
i can say with no question at all.
the big sony fh that i have is a listening eperience that must be heard to be believed.
the bass is not like the kaboom.
i think they are the best portables sony made.
