Hi im new to the world of boom boxes , well the dicsolite anyway which i purchased today.
The thing has been in someones garage for x amount of years and is in perfect cosmedic condition. It also seems that the battery compartment has never been used.

Only problems are it seems that only the left side of speakers work? If i put all the sound the the right only a little amount comes out its clear and everything just quiet. Is this something to do with dirty heads or something ?

Also when i turn to tape mode the lights freeze and it makes a weird theramin like sound any ideas what the go is there? The two red lights at the top also dont seem to work is there anything i can do about that either ?

Would it be a wise idea to open it and see if i can fix the problems it may just be excess build up of dust and needs a good clean?

how doo man,the first thing to do with it is put a tape in to the recording deck and press record/then stop-record,then stop..just a couple of times,alot of the time its the recording switch thats dirty..that can effect the sound,also you could switch the function switch very fast a few times from radio-tape-aux..that might even solve the freezy light problem..i had a discolite,it looked good but sounded a bit duff..still a good find out of a garage,i would`nt be disapointed if i found one in a garage..
keep us updated e.g,if those things i told you work or not..

Try leaving in turned on for
a few hours.
I had something like that
and the sound came back to normal
after a while.

Switches and controls
will need cleaning etc.

i just turned it on today and all the lights where working. And the other speaker worked for a while too until i tried turning the volume up...so im assuming it all works just needs some warming up / cleaning.

I paid Aus$25 for mine at a car boot sale last year & it's in mint con.
Since then I have seen a couple go on Australian ebay for crazy prices. One went for Aus$1625 a few months ago & another went for Aus$1575 last week.
