Years ago, when I used to carry my box around, people used to always tell me: "DON'T SET YOUR BOX ON CONCRETE SURFACES, BECAUSE IT WILL KILL YOUR BATTERIES"!!!
I always believed it, BUT, is it true??? And if so, WHY???

Maybe its the flux of the earths magnetic field being concentrated by the concrete.

Never heard that one before

Interesting.
Note about storing batteries on concrete - According to the battery experts storing your battery on a concrete surface will NOT cause the battery to discharge prematurely. Apparently older hard rubber style battery cases did indeed conduct a current when placed on a concrete surface with a high moisture content. This commonly held (and often repeated) myth does not apply to modern plastic battery materials.

Maybe it came from construction workers
leaving things on concrete.
I guess nowadays it's best not to do so, as it will scratch the plastic base and mark it - so maybe it's best we keep the myth alive

just like the myth that if you place a box infront of a mirror and leave it over night switched on, it will change to an evil box and drive you mad with the bass waves and kill you slowly

TPR, what you've posted is very interesting though. I would think it would be the other way around being that rubber acts as an insulator towards electricity.
I learn something new everyday!!!
