I'm bored today, biz is slow and kinda just dwelled on this. I've been here nrly 3 yrs and my collection has expanded by leaps and bounds,!
When i joined i had 17 bbxs in my collection, now the latest tally stands at 112.
A net increase of 95 BBXS! Wow! That is kinda Nuts,HUH?
U gotta figure The increase is well over a hundred as i have given some away and sold some. And u Boys and Girls?
95 boomboxes?! Holy sheezot!
I've only added about eight boxes.
Maybe I'm just too picky.
Maybe I'm just a cheap bastard.
jaredscottfla - 2008-08-15 15:14
yep,it is a little coo koo.
i might sell some soon, running out of room!
All I can say is I've bought, traded and sold a lot of boomboxes.....
skippy = me .
about that

The only two regrets I have when letting go boomboxes in my collection are the Panasonic RX-7700, and an RX-5500 way back in my early days of collecting boomboxes since I bought our first computer in 2002 and discovering this site in 2002/03, and epay...
All of them
And alot of walkmans
i lost the overview.
when i joined 'old' stereo2go i had +/- 30 walkmen, one bbx, now i have ~150 walkmen and 100+ boxes (got 4 minis last week...)...
when i joined i had 140 or so,this went up to around 170 ish.but now have around 100,most of them boxed which are what im concentrating on.
My collection only exists because of this site, the will/need/want was always there to collect since the 80s, but I just never had any idea about where to find them or how to repair/refurbish them until I found s2go and the awesome amount of knowledge shared here. This site became the inspiration to make my dream collection a realisation!
Soon after joining here in April I found my first radio (GF-777) and since then I have collected and restored 10, with my 11th being an M-70 I should receive early next week.
I don't plan on collecting more than 30.. but having said that this will probably come back to haunt me in the future as the love grows with every new addition.
Rock On.
I bought then I sold..
Here are the approximate numbers.
0 to 85
85 to 15
DCM4U...if you reply to these posts you do not need to quote/copy everything otherwise you may screw up my numbers, and I'm screwed up enough without my numbers being doubled by a quote copy
Started with 1.
Bought/traded for another 46.
Although Ive never had more than 12 at any one time.
Most of these were totally restored at my local shop unless parts boxes or survivors.
I currently have..... and I cant believe it, only 2!
Its always been a storage issue with me, but then as I researched and learned more and more, my tastes became more and more expensive!
Currently rebuilding my collection with EXACTLY what I want and avoiding the impulse buys...
masterblaster84 - 2008-08-16 09:43
Yes it's nuts to some but it works for us!
I have had about 80 or so pass through my hands and currently still have around 55 to 60 including some parts boxes that will never be functional again. Like many here I intend to eventually thin that number down to a more manageable collection of mostly high end boxes. It seems some of you have already done this, looks like UE is one.
presently in my collection i have around 50ish. ive bought boxes just to sell to support my addiction at times so i have had around 150 pass thru my hands

Oh no, the glomping has started.
Back on topic, I also have around 35 boxes, and have had about the same number pass through my hands, and yes mainly to support the hobby. Would like to get down to around 12 - 15.
OK.OK...I'm sorry. UE has 16 rooms of boomboxes, most in the box and still has to rent a storage unit not to mention 869 walkmen.....

I had seven when I joined. I think I just crossed the fifty threshold as two super cheap mini's arived plus a thrifty find. I have managed to keep my numbers down
by trading a few and giving some away.
Plus, see this thread on how I get help managing the collection.
When The Wife Or Girlfriend...(CAREFUL HERE!!!)

Hi everyone- I has about 15 when I joined this site last Feb.
I now have 18.I've added 3 since I started.
I will be happy when I get to around the 30-40 mark.
I'll be collecting more in the winter as this is when my cars are in storage, then I spend more on other good stuff.
I really like this site,I came across it by accident and I just love all the info and the fact that there are people collecting boomboxes.
Have a great week-Ghettoboom777.
A few of my walkman, walkgirl....

well i added this vid -- does this count?
panasonic something
Same as a lot of the gals and guys here...... Have quite a few and have had a lot more... buying, selling, trading.....
My little question though, can we count the Bboxes that we did not buy for ourselves but for others that we had shipped to our places , we worked on them and then shipped them out to the righful owner (the ones who paid for the Bbox)..... In this case, if that counts, quite a LOT more....
peter.griffin - 2008-08-22 12:56
25 too many, as my wife would say
Had only 2 when I joined in 2006

....... I know how you feel!!!!!! I dread the day I am going to have to move all of mine !!!!!!!!!!!!!! OHHHHH.... If I could be around the 18 mark as well!!!!!!!!!
I had zero boomboxes, one Panasonic walkman and a Sony MD player when I joined last year.
I actually stumbled across this forum when I was looking for GF-9292 to replace the box I had in my early teens.
Since then, I've acquired 8 boomboxes, another five walkmen, and another MD player.
Oh, and my wife thinks I'm nuts... (just kidding, but she does get some mileage talking to her friends about my relatively new hobby).
peter.griffin - 2008-08-26 11:44
Hey JT, does your wife's conversation with her friends go something like this "all of a sudden he started collecting boomboxes"?
just since this thread started --
i have bought 4 and sold 2 --
-- (and all serious grails)

Sold two, aye? Wheeling and dealing.... Boombox pusher!!!!!!
...... The cops are on your trail....... Why do you think THAFUZZ joined this forum, aye? He is undercover hot on your tail, dude!!!!!!!!!!!!
I joined pocket calculator show about 6-7 years ago when all I had was 1 unit, my Sharp GF-666.
I have bought well in excess of 100 since, perhaps even as many as 150. I am only missing about 4-5 to complete my collection of top models. I guess you can say I am old school.
