We collect boxes from the 70's, 80's, 90's,
etc... Technology has come a long ways since
then. Has anybody here upgraded their box with
new technology??? High tech subs, tweeters,
maybe some sound deadening mats on the inside
of the box?? Used a higher powered amp from
another box??? I would think someone with vast
knowledge.... like alot of the members here...
although NOT me.... could really make a box
ROCK. It might be a shame to hack up a Conion
C-100, but you could use a Lasonic 931 or
something more common. Has anyone done this???
Any pics to go with it??? Thanks, John
check out this thread by manelytronix Project VZ 2007...the guy did an amazing job on his dead sharp vz
any link to the tread?
Thanks

Ahh... Much thanks Getto. I tried the search feature but with little success.
I guess it technically is a modification as there are a few original parts left over. However, it's more like a brand new custom boombox built around an old Sharp shell as it's seems that the shell is the only thing left over.
Ok, I guess what I meant was.... anyone just
soup up their box a little bit with upgraded
speakers, dynamat, or maybe a little more power?
The Sharp VZ was incredible but the only thing
original was the shell.. like stormin said.

This is something I am very interested in as well. The VZ 2007 is absolutly mind blowing. I'm not sure I could pull that off! But I think I would like to find a LARGE box to soup up as opposed to a full rebuild like that VZ 2007.
I know this would make most boomboxers puke, but I was thinking of taking a Lasonic 975 and painting it silver to match my 920!
But aside from that, I think maxing a box out with more power, newer speakers, a bigger power supply and mp3 player would be a plast, but I think you'd need to start with a VZ / 777 / or 975 just so you would have room to play inside.
Yeah TRC-920... I think you said it before but I'd love to see you trick out the 975. The side by side pics of the 975 and your mint 920 would be killer!!!!
If you can find the 975.... go for it!!!!
