Anybody know much about these early radios? I think some were portable... most plugged in.

Here's what I know:

Nivico (Nippon Victor Company) was a brand name used by the Victor Company of Japan mostly in the fifties and sixties (along with other names, like Delmonico, JVC and NVC) to market electronics to the world that were branded Victor in Japan. I have quite a few transistor radios with that name, along with some audio accessories and a portable phonograph. The Nivico brand was eventually dropped in favor of the simpler JVC.

Got the same one on a shelf in the basement (along with a number of others like it). I'm a fan of the genre: battery-operated, transistor, plastic, portable table radios. Although lots of brands/versions of this type of radio were made (mainly in the sixties, I'd say) my experience is that they're too plain looking to be in high demand by collectors. Sound, while not really hi-fi, is usually pretty good.
