hey!
So while i was surfing around as usual i spotted this weird looking Sharp on a auctions-site. Never seen anything quite like it. Looks like some kind of hybrid-clone between plastic.. and technology.
Whattaheck is this? Kind of weird looking isnt it?
Anyone got it? Share your experience!

Def weird looking, grey plastic looks like a rock em sock em robot! It's interesting looking for sure.
How about in red.
Sound ?? Basic i guess. I dont ever really listen to it, i just keep it because i like the many different designs of boomboxes and the look of this one kind of appealled to me.

The grey one does kinda remind you of them. I guess i have the red opponent then (if i remember correctly i think one of robots was red !)

Uh Huh. I found it The other Day at of all places Salvation Army. Not Cheap For Thrift Store(25.99) but it's very clean and pretty minty,it's similar in size, but not quite as heavy as my jvc 350-c.
Am,Fm,and sw1 sw2,dual cass, has alot of bling bling,NO Fine Tuning, which puts it a notch below, the jvc,in terms of sound def the jvc wins, pumps and is loud youza.
The tapes i thought also might need a belt change but some contact cleaner,on the sliders and a head cleaning and the tapes play nicely, nice box not bad for 26 bucks
It sure looks good in that red color!

Does that mean.. i can play two casettes simultaneously?
Sharp's WQ series had this Back-to-Back or Twincam cassette feature, where the one motor has a long spindle to run 2 cassette mechanisms, one in front of the other. This save lots of space & also there's only one set of tape control buttons. Deck 1 has just play & stop and deck 2 has the usual full complement. There's a Tape Mode switch to choose which deck to control. The system is fully mechanical - no servo stuff to go wrong (on most of them).
One real gain from this system, apart from the simpler looking layout, is the tape-to-tape copies are particularly good. Maybe having both decks are directly connected in this way has gains wrt wow & flutter, etc.
The 'base has over 2 dozen Sharps with this mechanism. The one above is an earlier example.
Here's some more blurb from another site:

Thanks your little info spot cleared up some thoughts about this one for me ...
Sharp model no. WQ-T282 (R) - I guess that means red in color, like mine here
