So.... my GF 1000...... I got it yesterday as I had programmed!!!!!!!! It was very well wrapped.... But, with the transport, a speaker broke of..... The plastic screw thread was/were old.
So, all that is fixed (the speaker did NOT get punctured!!!!!!!
). Then the GF1000 was tested by me, and I can say that the person who sold it had it (or they did it them self) the 1000 serviced.... So, nothing needs to be done, belts are okay! It only needs a good clean,
Except....
YES! There is one bad point!!!!!!!!!!!
The 1000 was serviced well enough. A speaker was changed (this is VERY noticeable, for the changed speaker is much whiter than the original speakers- witch are naturally turning to that "Creamy" color).
That exchanged speaker is........................ NOT WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There had to be something!!!!!
I will open the 1000 back up in a few days and see what is up..... I would not mind it being just the magnet being unloosen and blocking the cone, or a badly soldered wire, or a crossed wire..... Ahhhhhhh.... we will see!
Here are two pics, be posting new info later:
And here you can see that it is the right speaker that is lighter in color, thus the Fuicked up one...
Later
Gorgeous radio Bredgeo, hope the speaker fix is an easy one. I got a GF-8989 still in need of a replacement speaker thanks to the whole back section of the woofer being broken/cracked at some stage.
Congrats on the 9000 rocker, please post a full review/comparison when she's 100%.
Rock On.
Congratz on the 1000 , Bryan.
You are always one step ahead of me hmmm.
looks sweet B...sorry to hear it arrived that way...hopefully youll find a fix..if not im sure youll find a doner...awesome tho...
Good luck on the speaker! I understand the frustration.
its a great looking boombox.
very awesomely nice -hope the speaker is fixable

Hi-That is a very nice GF-1000!
I want one of these pretty bad but I have to wait for a few months.
The M-90 and the GF-1000 are near the top of the list.
I'm eyeing a GF-9191X right now.
Good luck on your speaker-I hear ya'
I have a GF-767 that has a bad outer speaker-in fact it's the same speaker(same outer one) that's bad in mine.
At least mine is interchangeable with a GF-777.
There is a GF-1000 going for cheap right now.
Probably too much just for parts though.
Good-Luck with this one-very,very nice.
Have a super weekend-Ghettoboom777.
Looking nice, Bredgeo!
I hope you can get it fixed!
With time, with time.....
So, I re-opened it and gave it a good clean.... Tested the speaker and it is the coil that is shot.....
So, yes will, for sure, need a new speaker!
If not, what little sound comes out of the center bass and the working speakers (counting the tweeters) DOES NOT COME CLOSE TO AN M90!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMO!
M90 stays the king of them all!!!!!!!!
Do not get me wrong, the GF 1000 does have good bass but seems to distort sooner than the M90 and it does NOT come close to the M90's high-end clarity!!!!!
agree with you bredgeo --M90 is in a different league of quality sound --
----------------------
but i stiff offer to take that whoosee , turkey gf1000 -- anytime
check your $$$ PM
Just what i expected , Bryan.
I could not believe that a GF 1000 was better than a M 90. I didn't hear any distortion on my 90's yet and i push them hard sometimes. (Volume on 7
)
The GF 1000 looks awesome though.
Buy the one from Pep Bryan.
Always handy to have some more spare parts for it
OKay

Eddy.... Got the link to that Pepin one?????
I guess this is the only way to get another speaker as they are way too rare
Thanks Eddy.....
Ira, did you see that?
No problem.....................
yup -- peppin has had it listed off and on for about three weeks --
but, honestly -- i figured to score yours for even less !!

i would most definitely make him an offer on it very soon -- but ONLY if you or eddy or other members here DONT want to make an offer --
so PLEASE -- anybody -- let me know -- like NOW
thanks
I'm not making an offer on it.
It's all yours
Late in reading this post Brian. Great looking box. Congratulations. Still, I'm confused as another thread someone stated the 1000 had 8" woofers in a box the same as my GF919. Yet Peppin's GF1000 listing states it has 6" woofers as I suspected. So what the dealio?
i can say beyond doubt the woofers in the gf1000 are 6.5 inches in diameter.
Thank you for confirming my suspicions. I beleive it was a new member or an eBay linky that the seller was stating big 8"ers
Still, I think they're absolutely beautiful and def. want to own one someday

I am cool.... If I end up getting a parts 1000 it would not be now and it would not be a good 1000, but a semi-dead one....
All yours Ira...

So what the dealio?
No..... They seem to be the SAME size...... I do not have my 777 here to make a perfect comparison, but having held a 777 speaker a few times and now having the 1000 here..... the same
Oh..... Question, does ANYONE have spare speaker to a 777, 909, 919, 767, 1000.... Actually any of those models?
I might be able to do something!
I am going to post this request in the wanted parts section later....
the woofers from the gf 8787/8989 will work .
wow if they will work and match in wattage id switch mine for some black 8989 versions speakers if any and sell you mine from my gf-1000 bredgeo...
Okay.....
Blaster was talking about them!
Cool, more eventual addaptable speakers for the 1000 if originals cannot be found (few months, I give myself...)
What are the ratings on those 8787, 8989 series?

...and sell you mine from my gf-1000 bredgeo...
Ahhhhh.... We are starting to get somewhere.....
I see the wink in your post, but I see beyond that! You DID post the "Possibility"!!!!!!!!!!
Keep me updated, I will keep you posted!
But, I would still like to know the rating on those (more like the wattage)...
well, the below link there's a black speaker??? version with detailed specs...if anyone has this box in any color perhaps they can crack theres open (if possible) and tell us the stamp number of the speaker in the back to match it up with the gf-1000s speaker number

well yeah B, if they exist in black id do that...because i was thinking of painting my speakers all black...but if sharp made the 1000s outers in black id swap them to keep them factory parts modded...plus then all i would need 777 center woofers to complete it...

Beautiful machine Bredgeo, I love the big blue tuner and text on these!
The speakers will look far nicer in black IMO, the white ones just don't look right to me.
EddyNice to see you here again!

Mmmmmm.... Well, this is a case of altering an original....... Sure it would work just as well, but it would not be original In looks.... It has to stay "Original in Looks" to be part of the collection, don't you agree?
Now, if it were one of my altered Bboxes, oh yeah! No probs..... Change all that needs to be change for a good working unit.
I guess it really depends on the collector... Look at Ned...!!!
By the way, where has he been lately?
