anyone know of / or have for sale a box with all of this stuff ?? :
1. cd player
2. ANALOGUE tuner
3. full dial light
4. single deck
thanks
No, but I have 3 rack system components and a flashlight. Will that work?
That may be a reach. I hope you find one (original, not a mod) but I'm not sure even Jens has one loaded like this in the base. By the time CD players were being put in boxes you either got a seperate digital tuner (See JVC PC-V series) or a combo display (Panasonic/JVC, others), but no analog tuner with lights though. (Possibly a LED?) That would have been one of the first cost cutting moves made by manufacturers during the dawn of the CD era.
But...you never know...
except its the "you never know ..."
box -- that i want !
I have seen 1 but the sound was so crap you would not be interested
the pansonic fd80 has theese features, but i would fight you tooth and nail if one came up
also it isn't back light display. good luck on you're search man.

Put down the "wheatgrass" for a second and exhale.
Ira is looking for an "analogue" (how ya'll in spell it in the Queen's english) tuner that is backlit ala RX-C100, Rising 20/20 or Pioneer CK-5F to go with the CD and single deck. To confirm this here is a photo you posted!
well - here is one with 3 of the features i need --it has no dial light --but i know its a very good box --so no complaints at all --
but still need one with the light --
and a one-piece is preferred
so - thanks for your attention --and PLEASE dont give up --i sort of think there really is such an animal out there !! -- ok

Oldy the stereo mentioned does have an analogue tuner i used to own one see that space far right of the display thats your analougue tuner
howeaver if one comes about its mine the rest of you can sod off
howeaver there is more chance of satan skating to work than one of theese turning up, as for the light thingy all ira would have to to is send it to kittmaster.
tim - you are correct about that - i suppose that most boxes can have a retro-fit dial light installed --
or -as bashngu inferred -- we could always nail a flashlight onto it --
and , further, to make it into a one-piece - i could just ducK tape the speakers in place
but still ...finding a factory box would be so much cooler ---as we agree!

hey ira i forgot to say lad the fd80 a one peice and yes we agree on you're last point unless it's an m90 lol

The chance of finding one mmmmm you have more chance of winning the lotto than finding one of theese, howeaver if anybody does find one or has one, send me a pm i will trade any box in my collection apart from the aiwa 880.
tim - (or any member of tims stature)
in your own humble opinion --
why should this model be so hard to find ??
like - panasonic is this gigantic outfit with the very best in worldwide distribution -
and when they make items -- the make them in the tens of thousands over the years -
as my guess -- there were probably 20 of these for every aiwa 880 !!
know what i mean ?
yea its a strange one that ira i bought mine back in 87 and foolishly lent it to a then friend who delibratly sabotarged it he wripped out one of the capstan bars (he said it fell out) totall bull**** and the box had just set me back £350, as if he wasn't happy enough borrowing it
the shop had another 1 wich sold to an old lady, i wish i had thought about it cuz that box was in the shop for about a year after i bought mine, if only i had bought the seconed 1 on hp they would have agreed too.
I could kick myself now.
the base shows 33 ,not sure about the dial light...

Boombox's dont have dial lights because it waste power from the battery.
Some dial lights come on when pluged into wall power or there is a push button
switch so it dosent stay on all the time.
I say if you find a box that is close just send it to kit and he can put a dial light in anything LOL.
Ira, I have a Sanyo "egg" that fits your wish list (well, all but the dial light that is). I can't say for sure (it's been in storage for some time now) but I think the radio frequencies are silk-screened on the body, so my "brilliant" recommendation for illumination would be to glue or duct tape one of those "gooseneck" led lamps onto it, hey, come to think of it...you could swivel the lamp to light up the cd when changing discs too-or even the cassette...now that would be cool! Just think, you could be the proud owner of a box with cd player, ANALOGUE tuner (with full dial light), and a single deck...and, stand out from the crowd! Whaddaya think?
joe cool - thats cool
whats the sanyo model number so i can check it out in the bbdb --THANKS
I just knew that you were going to ask me that, maybe I'm psycic or something, lol!
Ok, but you'll have to wait 'till I get home tonight (I'm at work) and dig it out of storage.
chris - no hurry --
often the search/quest is more fun than the discovery !!
That's true Ira, remember the last time I did this...I discovered my Panasonic C46! It had been there for at least a year...forgot I even had it! I wonder...what other untold gems await to be discovered?
We're just glad to discover your back Joe my man! I haven't pontificated since you left and my skills are now rusty!!!
Ira, here's a thought. Get a box meeting these qualifications. (No dial light of course.)
Place a bulb on the inside with a fiber optic lead to carry light across the tuner window...
AND BAM! There you have it!
If you can build a "Woodie" this should be nothin'!!!
should not be a big problem -- thanks
rbj.
The first were made with vertical cd drive.
So I searched the base for:
different scale positions
vertical cd drive
midsize
different scale positions
vertical cd drive
1pce
different scale positions
vertical cd drive
detachable sp.
Then I sorted out the newer models with digital tuner.
Also I filtered "tuning disc"(analog scale)
As mentioned :not sure bout the dial lights.
then I came to 33...
That dial light is going to be a bugger.
Dial lights (with a push-button or only when on AC) were something that went out of fashion a way before CD arrived... I think.
Go on, someone prove me wrong

I agree iso-
we have to verify this.
thanks so much for trying so hard on this search --
as a 'personal fav' boxes with dial lights ON - are alot better looking --
but more important , both the music and the fm reception seems to sound alot better outside on a dark night --so diddling around with the analogue tuner actually requires the dial light --
thats why
