GF_777Z Assembled in China. Fake??

megablast - 2008-07-17 02:10

Hello!
I have this one from Xd62 (ebay seller from China) "Assembled in China" This is a fake?
Everything in this one inside and outside look identically like in my second Gf-777Z "Made in Japan".
This is a photo of a back label from this one

The box may well be legitimate and not a fake. It's quite possible that (at least some) Sharps sold in China back in the day were made there. Sharp made boomboxes at factories in Nigeria and Malaysia, so it's not a stretch to assume they made them in China, as well.

It seems that they indeed had "back yard" factories to assemble the sharps... yes seems legal. Roll Eyes Wink

I find article about this...but hard to translate.

I tried with translation program:

Japanese kings and Chinese cabbage

Podnebesnoy renowned craftsmen of their talents are already several thousand let.Mnogie invention and true to this day serve humanity. A long time to the skill of Chinese prichislyali and forgery known radio SHARP GF-777, but the practice shows forgery and assembly under the license are different things. The exact copy SHARP GF-777 to manufacture at home does not make sense, it is expensive and there is no commercial support from collectors. But then what use elements from the original piece for samopala production in this case mph. So gentlemen, check your markers on the back of car!!

Other stereo companies did do manufacturing in other countries in asia in those days too. But all the ones made in Japan would go to North America. Maybe it was the China sanctions.
A sales man in asia said the ones from Japan were better made even though it was the same model.

Hi, Ive been looking to get a 777 from the same ebay seller. Let me get this right, you bought it from him already? How much did you end up paying? And was it nice in condition?

Thanks

ELG

If you do decide to buy from China, good luck. Most of the boxes are not in good condition even though they are described as such.

Your best bet is to deal with

When I bought mine from Andrew? on this forum, he was one of the first to find them in China. he did mention something about the one's made in China not being as good as the one's made in Japan? Wish I could find that thread.
