This is a FANTASTIC box. Incredible sound, 10 band EQ, lots of features. When I got her she was in rough shape. Over a year ago as a matter of fact. Well, knowing she needed some therapy, I sent her to a Rhode Island resort for a few months where some character named after a black Trans-Am from some TV show nursed her back to health.
Special thanks to this guy.
I don't know how many of these are out there but I've only seen one other on the 'Bay in nearly a year and a half.
And for those who know and have read...my "Pitbull" Sanyo C-9 may have something nipping at it's heels...
I also think it looks beautiful for a mid-80's three piece box. Powerful, clean, loud sound. (That being said, yes the ten band EQ & three way speakers give it a unique advantage. As with anything EQ you can overboost as well.) And you gotta love the spectrum analyzer!
More later!
(Sorry bout the poor pics.)
Great box oldy as for the pitbull my m90 would molester it as the cp7 is about number 5 on the m90's rictor scale, glad the box is all sorted now, wish that guy with the transam lived in the uk.
I've been looking for one of those! One of a few three-piece boxes I'm willing to own!
Wow oldskool you mean to tell me this sucka beats the Pitbull. I can't wait to hear her congrats she does look intimidating.

yep i owned one of those.. why i sold it i'll never know.. the one i owned is the one on the Pocketcalculator website (the bright blue LED changeout) trust me OS69 blue LED's do make it look sweeter.. and yep the sound is like a punch in the face.. glad to see it finally getting proper kudos.. it's a very solid unit too.. the cassette key's are all metal.. one of the last high quality biult regular boomboxes..
Geezum crow, love that Sharp! Top score and restore OldSkool, it's gotta be one of the highest end, technically, that Sharp ever made.
My favourite parts are the FatDog monogrammed speaker fronts. That's rockin.
Rock On.

'easy to find' box in Russia, still plenty of them, i would say it's a pretty common box along with GF-800, strange enough they were so rare on the US market.

Well, I had nothing to do with that, but the FD is pretty cool!
I like that!
I see a Chinese seller or two has one from time to time... and in white too I think?

Can you post a pic of the Russian one?
oldskool, if you should ever decide to sell that box (I won't hold my breath
),
DO NOT sell it to DM4U!

no, sorry i have no radio and no pics of it, i even didn't save them on my computer, cause it's not my cup of tea, it's "too young" to my taste
but there is no difference between yours and "russian", except stickers and 'country of origin' - yours assembled in china, and i've seen only japanese ones, yours must be rare one .
i believe you may find 939' pics on
www.recallsharp.ru
In Russia, a version with 66-73MHz FM and polar stereo decorder was available
Cool box!
Does anyone know if the woofers are truly square, or are there round ones behind the square front?
It looks like the FD stands for "Flat Diaphragm" so they could actually be square. Or, at least we would be lead to believe it.
Freddie, open it up and double check for us.
They are flat diaprghm speakers. Though it would be cool if the were manufactured by (F)at(D)og Industries!
They bark for sure!

i thought everyone knows it.

I did hear they are rather dangerous but fluffy

oh yeah, they are very dangerous and eat americans for breakfast.
Hello oldskool69, as I know yours sharp is must be WF-940. That is produced for western countries.
WF393ZP is identical version produced for USSR but without Dolby B feature and with 66-73 MHz USSR FM.
On yours box is another(for Wf-940)sticker, while on Philip Lykov version (WF-939ZP) is USSR sticker:
Anyway that is fantastic feature box.

there are at least three versions of the stickers for 939, one of them with soviet FM band.

I may dig into this further. I may actually have something special I'm not aware of. Thanks for the info.
Not a Monster like the 939Z but my WQ-T484 is special to me....
This is mint as new , fully working logic decks, twin cam and nice power.
Glad it arrived in good order. I've been looking for one since all those repairs.....ugg!!!.....but I refuse to pay that idiot overseas 180 for shipping.
To me, that just says shady since they know it skirts the ebay commission since there are no fees for shipping.....hence the "low" price you see they sell them for......either way the same money logic wise, but shady non the less......
I do want to thank you for the unexpected return.....oldskool sent me an HK-9000 for my time!!!!........And just to be clear that wasn't the deal, we originally said I could use it for a few months after I fixed it......and that would have been payment for me since I really wanted to play with this box.
Oldskool is top notch.....winners on both ends......thanks again bud!!
Chris
