not showing anything cool in terms of music but just to show how they look. they have handles but i have them off for now.
they are superloud and prolly the coolest small stereos i have in terms of the display. i have a guy who says he can find the schematics to make the rechargable battery packs they used to have for them. they fit into the spot where the power supply is now.
they are awesome huge units. i have also been told they put out 30 watts rms per side.
as for bass yeah they are bassy. really bassy. give the vid a couple more minutes if its not up and running already

Interesting I didn't know these Sony's were bassy and can blow a Kaboom! I can only imagine with an M-90.
Thanks for sharing this Bill the Sony looks great would love to hear one someday.
they sound really good. i mean the kaboom dosent hold a candle to it. i would even go so far as to say at half volume this sony is louder than the kaboom maxed.
the bass is really good on the sony. i mean it just dosent even compare. its not the kind of bass that just bounces of the wall it realy thuds against your bones.
So you bought two for ten bucks!
yeah. with the remotes. they still need a little sorting cold solder joints. they have the best shortwave tuners i have ever had on a boombox.
i believe they originally sold for close to nine hundred dollars in canada.
both of them function. the tape decks intermitentaly work on both of them. can wiggle the ribbon socket and they work. it has to be cold solder joints. i think sony had some trouble with this back then.
even if some may not consider these boomboxes to be boomboxes. i still highly praise them for how they sound.
really really loud and full.
If you ever decide to part from one let me know.
will do i am going to have a fellow fix the cold solder joints on them in the next few months.
Welcome back ol chum looks like you have been through the mill pf things i hope things drastically improve for you, chin up, and those sonys are monsters from what i remember they are louder than a standard m90 nice catch.

thanks man. its good to hear from you again. yeah those sonys are crazy. they are really really loud but nice loud. they look awesome when they are pumping the bass you would swear the woofers were going to blow the speaker grills off.
these wiegh about 35 pounds i think. they are very wicked.
i need to get them one hundred percent, but as they are they really see the ipod hooked up to them alot.
i am also now the owner of a immaculate panasonic dt 707 wich i absolutely love.
I have a dt 707 beutiful box, have you tried the surround bil lad it will blow you away
yes the surround sound blows my mind on it. i think that it is just a awesome piece of kit.
i mean i didnt get it with the remote.
the next day tho i was out and about and i found the remote in the thrift shop for a buck.
i really love that boombox i mean its just a cool modern blaster. some people hate them but i would never pass one up for a good price now. they are one of the best of the modern era i think.
sure its not a square box but it is a classic design.
there was lots of really bad sounding sqaure boxes too.

Wheh was this sony built and does anyone know how much it costs brand new? Based on your descriptions I would asume that it has deeper and more powerful bass than the Panasonic RXc100, and the dt-680 is that so? Thanks! Nice unit by the way.
P.S. so it dosen't use any D batteries? Only a rechargable unit?

one more thing. If you ever decided to get rid of one, I'd buy or trade something for it. Let me know if you ever decide to. Thanks!
there was a recharable unit made for these wich replaced the internal power supply inside.
it was only available in japan.
the guy i bought these off of had a electronics repair shop.
oh heavens yes much louder than the panasonic dt 680. i mean i used to have one of those when it was new before i collected boomboxes.
it really is loud and full sounding.
the super accoustic turbo button seems to act as loudness on this unit and when its pressed in this gets very loud. the woofers on this box are sqaure and not round. some of the fh series boomboxes have sqaure covers over round speakers. this one actually has sqaure woofers. pretty cool. i am certain that the problems with the display on one of the units and the tape decks on both is cold solder joints.
both of them also have shortwave reception wich is very good. i was told these sold for 799 dollars when they were new and i believe it.
they are really nice and well for me these are just incredible.

Why does Japan get all the good stuff? We Americans love our bass loud, thumping and deep too.
It's time we took a stand. No more 7 watt this and 10 watt that. Give us some Power, serious portable power.
Sounds dynamite Bill. I also enjoyed your other YouTube video. Starting at about 4Mins 10 Secs into it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGw_yPNKK04
yeah i talked a bit too much in that video. it did get alot of hits tho. i was suprised tho. now i have had to be mean and cap off all message i get from kids asking me how to make acid music with that little stomp box. i was really surprise tho how many people responded to it. i had to stop the comments and stuff beacause it was just to much to respond too.
hehehe.
i am surprised that no one else seems to know anything about these sonys. i would have thought they would have been a bit more popular.
i just finished giving one a go at loud volume.
ok so yeah its the loudest portable stereo i have heard ever.

sorry my bad grammar (i can assure my lack of caring is the culprit) lead me to give you the impression this boombox is japan only its not.
it for sure was available in north america as well. the power supply was a japan only thing from what i was told.
the other wierd thing is the am tuner seems to tune in odd numbers instead of even ones. this is something i dont get.
