What's the best boombox find you've had outside of an auction?
Sanyo M-X820K (Craiglist ad). Sharp GF 777(Found sitting curbside awaiting trash pick up). Lasonic 975(Found it being tossed out in Queensbridge Housing Projects). Conion c-100(Another C.List ad)
Two Conion C100F's from the same car show in two different years.
Practically mint Aiwa cs-880 - £4.00 at a bootsale in devon, u.k
A brand new, full working Sharp GF-777 for 50 Euros ... couldn't believe it, and it still make me smile when I think about it ...
TOM
I found my Gold Conion C-100 at a flea market for dirt cheap
-gsbadbmr
the helix ver. of the c100
fisher ph 490
international 20/20
rising 20/20
sharp gf 767
vela disco
a bunch of kool minis
ummm......
I nearly got all my boxes "in the wild".
A few nice ones.
For example: GF555, Helix, Discolite,...
But my personal grail of finding is now this scrappy SOUND-TECHNIC.
It´s more the story of getting it, that makes me this poor one loving it.
Fully working JVC PC-5, $20
Matsuki Master Blaster & Elta master Blaster. I found them 2001 on a fleamarket in Basel/Switzerland and i ve paid 50,-€ (65 USD) for both.
Sharp GF 9000
Rising 20/20
Fisher PH 490
Crown SZ 5100
Unisef SZ 5000
A fully working JVC PC-5 for $20?!?!?!
Sheesh, seeing all these makes my mouth drool...you guys are so lucky!!!
i think my lasonic 975 jumbo was the best deal from local flea market .
Latest was a O.K. Sharp GF 7500 from a public service office (they just used it to mufle-out the sound of interviews from the people in the waiting-room!!!!)
Traded it for a 40 euro egg!
i only get mine from thrift stores and at the side of the road.
i have some pretty nice ones now.
some of the best ever deals.
pc550 seven bucks all working but no handle excellent shape
sk-95 like new 20 bucks
m9998k seven bucks
two sony fh215r boomboxes for ten bucks for the two of them.
so yeah the kaboom from the garbage can was a good one too.

Thats the only one I found at the GoodWill! $9.00!!!
Found a real nice (minty) Phillips with CD player for the daughter!!! She loves! $15.00
Johnny
I got both of my boxes at thrift stores. The SG-J550L came from a Salvation Army, 100% working, with the original manual for $10...
And the Sharp HK-9000, also working 100%, came out of a Goodwill. Got that one for $40, and kinda had to think about doing it before I went for it. I'm glad I did.
I have found a few, but not as cheaply as others stated! I have found 3 M70's, a Pioneer sk900, Sharp 9494x, Panny RX7700, Sansui CP7, and 2 1/2 Pc55's all local, but some cost me as much as $120...Many of them were in great shape though! I still love to hunt and one can make my week!
I found my Sharp GF-9000 and GF-777 at bootsales and paid £10 for each. The 777 is near mint and fully working, and only the deck is tempramental on the 9000. That one's near mint also.
Conion C100F for $35.00,at a car show/swapmeet.
Minty Jvc PC100JW mini walkman boombox at GoodWill for $9.99.
Minty fresh PC11JW for $9.00 with manual, but missing the handle.
i got a minty pc 11 for $20.00 at a yard sale and a fully working m90 for $250.00 at a pawn shop.

I'm with you, Allen. I have to go back more than four years before there was anything worth having - and that was a Sanyo M9935K. There's absolutely nothing in Middle Tennessee.

I found some cool boxes around at yard sales:
TRC 931 2nd gen (missing lots of cosmetics though!) but pumping sound.
minty sanyo 9982F
really clean JVC 9475
nice sampo cs-407
nothing really off the hook but a few nice boxes from the wild, can't really complain
nothing wowy for me either.
Best would be the not-perfect GF777 for the equivalent of about sixty quid. Needs the idlers doing on both decks, & hopefully a full interior clean-up will sort the output issues. A new rear case would be nice too...
I've done well in a few auctions, but that's not what we're about here...

I've had some fortunate finds over the last few years, enough to keep me looking.
JVC RC-550JW
Sanyo MX-960K (Big Ben)
Fisher PH-460
Fisher PH-492
Panasonic RX-CT900
Panasonic RX-5100
Sanyo M-9930
Aiwa CS-990
Sanyo M-9998
Goldstar TSR-801
Lasonic TRC-931
Various Mini's (around 8)
Wow! Masterblaster84! You are a master Hunter!

Thanks James, I feel pretty fortunate after reading so many posts of members who find very little or nothing at all. I may not live in the richest hunting grounds but they've treated me fairly well.
I see you've had some fairly awesome success yourself, hope it continues for you.
I've had some success in the wild, some of my finds include:
Panasonic RX-5085 (minty)
Sharp HK-9000 (great shape)
JVC PC-V55 (good shape)
Magnavox D-8443 (almost mint)
Fisher PH-480(filthy and busted down)
Panasonic RX-5050 (good and used but works great!)
I always keep a craigslist ad up and get calls but alot are for smaller units I usually pass up.
Peace,
Paul Z.
