A Girl's Name for a BBX Brand.. Yuk Yuk!

Some time ago I've seen one at ML (local site of ebay). I couldn't believe that. I searched in the web, and I've found that Anita was a big calculator maufacturer, but in the mid 70's went out of bussines. After that the brand have been sold to a company wich used the name "Anita" to rename a variety of chinesse OEM products, like the BBX I had seen.

It happenned the same with a realtone clock radio I have, launched at early 80's but the company went out of bussines in the late 60's, so I realized it's a renamed OEM product.

I was thinking the same thing about that Korean Dae Ho, while sitting here looking back and forth between it and a GF-9000. Dial color is different, and the VU meter part, and the lettering over the left woofer -- but basically it looks like the identical box with just a few such cosmetic changes.

I wonder if this was a re-badge/variation (possibly from a Korean factory making GF-9000s under license so they had the molds), or an outright clone/copy they made independently(?). Koreans have/had a love-hate thing with the Japanese and their products, for historical reasons, and import restrictions, so either case is possible. Koreans did (and still do) like to copy things. Any way to sit that side-by-side and compare them in detail, to find out whether it is a re-badge or a knock-off?

Founded in 1936 in Wien when the Austrian arm of Philips took over the bankrupt Vindobona company. The usage of the Hornyphon trademark appears to have been dropped in the 1980's and I have not been able to find out for certain if the factory is still going but I believe it was one of the factories that disappeared in the "Rationalisation Programme" of Philips in the early 1990's, when the company sold and shut down a large number of product lines, technologies and factories in an effort to simplify it's management and financial structure (remember "downsizing" was the business buzzword of the late 80's, early 90's).
