estimate about 3 - 4 grand
wait - is this a stupid thread... ? theres hella cash being spent nowadays anyway. kinda comes back to the "what do you consider a large collection" etc. i guess as males mostly, theres always gonna be an element of i want the best collection, i know i had that for a long time.... now ive got like 5, but theyre sweet so im happy
i've got about 1,900 in my 4 boxes
i guess its the same with every hobby? - kinda hard to quantify as a large part of our disposable income gets funneled into it..
Autobot is that av from a film? wait, its max is it, in his ford falcon God damn i want one of those
I don't want to even think how much i've dumped into my collection...

I don't think so, it's kinda interesting!
I'm not a member on ebay, so that keeps my boombox prices down. I'd say I've spent about £350-£400 on my entire collection. I currently own approximately 45 boomboxes, but I've bought over 60 since I started collecting.
Dollars, Euros or Pounds people!!
Me, 1200 euros out of my pocket after buying and selling give or take a few hundred.
Beatbox that would make a cool t-shirt. do you have a version with the entire box on it?
im chocablok with college at the mo, ill get round to the 9000 bits next week id say

Far too much dinero to imagine!
Although most of my collection has been sold off to fund the boxes I really want and create space. you can go on collecting and collecting but when there is no space to display the best of them I can't see the point of just hiding them away in the loft, you may as well sell them to someone who will use them for the purpose they were intended

For you, anything! (as long as you sort out those parts...
)
Just joking! Whenever you have the time is fine with me. College was maybe the best time of my life, as well as being one of the stressiest, so please do't rush on my account. I'll get you that graphic over as soon as. In fact I'll do a couple of variations if you like.

Exactly. I reckon I've actually SPENT double my amount if not more on boxes, but I've made a pretty penny in seeling a few too. So its all good...

That is pretty amazing, I've spent that in 3 boxes although all three are pretty near mint now.
$650 aprox. for 5 boxes, probably the same ammount for past boxes. If I had more space it would be more.
Mucho cah-cah ein and mucho cah-cah aus.

i 'd have to add it all up,but i'll avg it to about 2400-2500 bucks, for my collection which is at 105,not really a fortune!
I think it would be cool too have a thread on what your whole collection is probably WORTH if you were to sell it, or if you had to sell it...after this thread is done of course...i think it would be interesting to see the numbers and stats

$815. But when you factor in some shipping charges, it totals to just under $1,000 (in US$) because some of these came from Germany.
At this time my meager collection consists of six boomers:
JVC RC-M70L - paid $300
(works great, except DIN line-in, got from Pabaker)
Sharp GF-9191HB - paid $140
(tape deck works, but radio is sporadic, loose contact somewhere)
Sanyo M9990 - paid $50
(needs antenna & tape deck belts, got from forum member)
Panasonic RX-5600LS - paid $200
(near mint, cleanest box I own)
Hitachi 8180 - paid $50
(tape deck does not work at all, but great optically, European model)
JVC RB-100 Kaboom - $75
(all supposedly works) Local ebay purchase, shipped but hasn't arrived yet.
I don't have any great stories about finding super cheap desirable units in the wild, but I did score a free, working Akai reel to reel last month!
Good hunting!
JT
i have spent enough to have bought a good brand new truck --but until the truck i drive now goes down --
i prefer all my boxes
its very difficult to place a value on these boxes, one day you get 450.00 then a few weeks later you get 650.00. just depends on who is looking at it and how badly they want it.
I think i have spent about 60€ on my 13 boxes. I thinks thats pretty good. They are all from fleamarkets ect.
well I am down to $9005.05 on one and $3452.55 on the other one and making regular steady payments on both, not kounting the ones that I pay for using 'real money'
as far as how many boombox's I have I have no idea they are just everywhere

nice video, and mucho boxes. great.
Simple
Priceless.......priceless....

all together i have spent under four hundred dollars.alot of them i get for under ten dollars some for under five
i think i could sell my m9998 and perhaps one of the smaller nice boxes like the nice mid sized sharp i have and pay for everything else i own.
i almost never pay more than 25 bucks for a boombox. the only one i have paid more for has been the dico robo.
some of the ones i have are cheesey but some of them are grails.
i am pretty much down to three more i would like to find in the wild as impossible as it would seem i will keep trying.
i will probably stop when i find those last three. i cant see spending more than a six hundred dollars for everything. i just have other priorities having tons of them to play music on is great but making the music must take precident for me.
i dont really think i will be done for a while.
i have faith i will find the remainder on my next trips into the interior of bc and go through some of the smaller communities here.
i really prefer to find the jewels in the not so rough rather than go after things wich are out of my budget range. i do think for four hundred bucks i have a killer collection. some minor flaws on some but none of them are dogs.
my friends are always jealous of the stuff i get for cheap. i mean allthough not a boombox today i got a pristine vintage spring reverb processor for 20 bucks.
i am a cheap bastard and i have a keen eye for a good deal.
my best deals over the two years i guess
original kaboom fully working with remote free in a trash dumpster
m9998k 20 bucks
m80 25 bucks
robodisco 45 bucks
pc550 20 bucks
yamaha pc8 7.99 i had to sell my first one and that one appeared a week or so later.
hmmm those are the best ones i got for cheap.
i have a bunch of mid sized boomboxes i got for next to nothing.
a gf6161 mk2 i got for a dollar i think it was like new.
actualy i need to ammend my amount as i remembered the new kaboom i also bought for 200 dollars so all told about six hundred dollars.
yes i did buy the kaboom brand new and stuff then two months or so later found on in excellent shape in a dumpster.
