Pioneer SK353 with some King Jammy's dancehall from the mid-80's.
This box really conveys the deep bass of these tunes.

Right now, I'm actually listening to radio over a Pioneer SX-1250, which is about as far from a portable as it gets (hernia risk when it needs moving! LOL). Some girl singer is doing a pretty grungy version of the Eagle's "Dirty Laundry" at the moment... not bad.

BUT just last night I was listening to tunes on a GF-9000. The tape was a mix of old songs, taped off the air. One local station plays non-stop songs with no talking, except a short news break in the middle, from 4 am to 6 am. Sometimes if I'm up at that hour I'll tape it, because the songs they play are usually a great selection of oldies. It's rare they play a song I don't like, in that time slot. Taping that is like having an instant mix tape, so I tape them off more often than mixing my own!

They just changed songs on the radio... now it's Coldplay...

Man, I just love music!

Due to a recent resurgence of interest in heavy metal, while cooking last night I was listening to this CD:

On my trusty "kitchen radio" - a Pana RX-DT610:

...not "Boomin' right now", but as close as I can get...

jaredscottfla - 2008-07-08 03:41

Marantz 4803S Cool
Mixed oldies tape Cool

2steppa - 2008-07-08 04:19

I forgot all about this thread.......

@Pepino
Nice box(575), I'd recommend it, very sweet sounding and loud but not as bassy as the speakers may suggest and does lose it's way at high volume. Still a beauty though and packed with features.

skippy1969 - 2008-07-08 05:36

Listening to a Level 42 "world machine" cassette on my Aiwa CS770. Nod Yes

I was booming a Saisho T404 slimline box earlier today, soon to be mine! I had it screaming Elton John's 'Sacrifice'. Big Grin I love the synthesizer in this song! Cool

Listen to the synth in it especially around 3:15 and after... beautiful. Video. Nothing wrong with slow music! Cool

walkgirl - 2008-07-08 08:22

I love that song! Smile

Jack Jam from Jonzun Crew on my MX 900 while I get some finishing touches done to the house for our refi (need to look good for the appraisal so we get the money we need for our addition Smile )

Oh and we recently took it to the Jersey shore with us for family vacation (people were going Bonkers when they saw/heard it Nod Yes )

retro.addict - 2008-07-08 09:46

That's an amazing looking box, Smokin_Endo! The upper section lets it down, but below the blue line is perfect! Big Grin

That is an awesome looking box,! Jersey shore! Ex Jersey Boy Here Who Spent Every Summer at The Shore! Cool Belmar,Bradley,Asbury,Seaside, Those were The Good ol' days,Max's Hot Dogs in Long Branch! Cool

smokinendo - 2008-07-08 11:47

Thanks Guys Smile

RA the top looks surprisingly good when the VU's are flashing but I do know what your talking about (a little more flash up top would've done this box some good)I think the reason I use this box so much is really cause of the obnoxiously loud volume ability ! THIS THING ROCKS ! At half volume indoors you can't possibly shout over it LOL

Jared we usually go to Wildwood which is where the pics were taken but we have visited Sea Side Heights on more then one occasion. We used to head there every year for there annual custom car and truck show. The scene for that stuff has changed pretty drastically but that shore point is still a great place to visit. I love the water park that sits street side on the main strip, I still remember the first time I saw it and how impressed I was LOL Good Times Good Times

How cool would it be to have a gathering on one of the packed boardwalks and walk it as a group with 10+ huge blasters ? HA HA HA ! People would FREAK !

Hey Smokin_Endo, your box looks too much like a 3-piece for my liking, not that I dislike 3-pieces or anything. Wink I've 'modified' your box so you understand what I would prefer the top of it to be like...

Before

After

Imagine the revised edition with a full-length handle (I can't be arsed doing all that Big Grin) Then it would look near-perfect IMO. Cool

charlesdickens - 2008-07-09 10:50

Sick photoshop! We need to start a photoshopped box thread!!

Anyway, I'm just sitting at my desk listening to AC/DC on my Quasar GX3614, waiting for 5:00.
