hi just wondering if any one can help my 3d 80 fell from a table and wont work there isint a mark on it it powers on and plays but no volume any ideas on how to repair it also it was a small fall nothing major but now it wont work
Hmm, I don't think the 3D80 has a speaker on/off switch, so it can't be that.
does it work with headphones?
can you hear anything through the speakers, such as a quiet hiss? any little "thump" noise when powering on?
do the lights on the front still flash to the sound?
have you tried the aux in?
finally - a strange one: try using the record function on the left deck. Does the record button feel right, or does it feel too light?
thank you for your reply there is no sound from headphones or the aux my ipod doesnt work any more on it either record button is fine when i power it on 2 lights stay on but they dont flash to the music there is no sound at all
ok now i have some hiss noise when i move the volume slider the surround light and bass light dont work also radio light wont work when you tune a station i gave my brother a lend of it and he let it fall from a table
I've had a couple of these apart, & I think that the parts you say are broken are all in a similar area. The speakers & the lights on the front are all have connectors on the main circuit board. If you're lucky, the fall has dislodged these connectors and simply reattaching them will fix it. If not, the main circuit board may have sustained same damage, which is much worse... (sorry to be the bearer of potentially bad tidings
).
Do you have the ability, tools, etc. to take it apart for a look?
yes il take it apart and have a look and see if any connectors are out i have never repaired a hitachi before as i only have the one but i will give it a shot thank you
It's not too difficult.
Take the screws out the back (long phillips-head screwdriver required) & the front should come away with a bit of help.
This should give a view of what's wrong - good luck!
