Radio swap meet

baby.boomer - 2008-02-02 14:41

This (Saturday) morning I attended the winter meet of the Michigan Antique Radio Club in Farmington Hills.

I found some interesting stuff (like a couple of shortwave sets and a Grundig store display rack), but, sadly, there were no boomboxes... except for this:

On the back, a nifty transistor radio.

Inscription says, "1985 Yuletide Concepts Inc. New York 10010." Yes, a genuine article from "back in the day"! Zowie!!!

(Let's hope there will be some real boomboxes for sale at the summer EXTRAVAGANZA in Lansing.)

Non-vintage. Just a couple of "modern" (but not recent) analog sets: a Sony ICF-SW600 and Realistic DX350. Adequate, but nothing to write home about.

A "Transformer" knock-off boombox? That thing is sweet! I would have grabbed it, too, just for decorative value beside/amongst the real boomboxes. Might have started life as a silly toy, but these days it's a good catch, IMO.
