Anyone know a good source for quality cables to connect Ipod to RCA ports.I've bought about 4 pair of the Radio Shack stock and to be honest they SUCK.There always loose fitting I even lost a metal sleeve in my boombox because once they bend a little they displace from the plastic underneath the metal plating. You wind up with just plastic thus no contact.

about $18au
Thanks guys I'll try belkin I agree they do make good quality cables.
the ones i used to buy here cut out after a month, every time, they didnt like being bent. i started buying itech link leads after, much better, much more rugged, havnt failed yet actually and im pretty hard on them. good post.

I'm telling you guys. The headphone jack is no good. You need to have your line out from the dock connect on the bottom of the ipod.
I use these.
I had looked into these and I think they are a good idea.I suppose it will also preserve the headphone jacks for headphones.
You will probably wear out the port on the bottom of the Ipod just as fast as the headphone jack. The input port looks pretty fragile to me (IMHO).
I think a true line out to your blaster is very important (especially for sensitivity reasons and ease of use).As for cables,it's just a boombox. My rad shack interconnects seem to work great!I have some Monster cables but only because I found them at Goodwill.Just use the cheapest thing you can find (barring from a dollar store).Perhaps a side by side comparison could change my mind.
dock? ipod? what language is this ?

Cassette, Tape, Reel, Q-tips...
Bought a pair of the ones CharlesDickens recommended.I agree that the headphone connector is not the best way to connect IPOD to Boombox. The Ipod dock connector is better. if for nothing more than avoiding the constant disconnect of cable from Headphone jack.

The dock connector sends line level audio out from your iPod providing better sound quality then when using the headphone jack. And, this iPod compatible cable works with all iPods with a dock connector.
Link to purchase.

The dock connector is good because it works with all boxes. For example my Panasonic and Lasonic always sound good regardless of where the volume is set on the ipod. The Rising on the other hand is very hard to get good sound from an ipod. You have to turn the bass way down on the box and the ipod and mess with the volume on each for about 5 min. With the dock connector, it's always a pure preamp signal that always sounds the same regardless of the bbx.

I bought the same pair CDickens ilustrates here and they sound way better than the earphone input type.Go ahead and grab a set of these and you wont regret it.I posted a link on this thread
Ipod? Upod Wepod Theypod aahhh ! NOpod !!!
When using my players headphone jack,I can't count the number of times I unexpectedly got strange results.I would always eventually realize this was because I would forget to turn off the players EQ and spacial enhancement type features. Its nice that a line level signal from the Ipods data port will bypass all of those settings (in addition to the volume control). When listening to my MP3 player with headphones,I tend to dial in a lot of signal processing tweaks.
I had the same problems with the earphone input.I get almost robotic type sounds and it slips out every time you try to adjust or skip tracks. This type fits tight and you simply adjust the volume from your blaster. The RCA connectors are also nice and tight to the boombox which I wasn't getting from The Junk shack cables.NOT to mention you preserve the integrity of your earphone connect on your Ipods

Ok, if you connect from the dock, how can you still charge the ipod while listening??
Like if I wanted to crank my ipod all day through my boombox?
masterblaster84 - 2008-02-09 11:56
I have to say I'm podless, just some basic MP3 players with only a headphone jack.

Thanks for the idea of using an ipod USB to RCA patchcord! I went to my local rat shack and they had nothing like what I wanted. I went home and found those "Cables To Go" on
www.amazon.com and they have them for a little under $16 brand new! I have a set coming to me soon!
Well a follow up to this post.I bought the Cables to Go Ipod Doc connector to RCA and had them since a few days after this post was originally started back in February. The cable has held perfectly and still as good as the first day I used them and I use them alot...Charles****ens was smack on!Good cables
