What boxes are left on your wish list...

radio.raheem - 2011-02-09 17:55

For me after my HUGE slimdown (about 15 boxes) left.. i have found myself adressing this question..Do i actually want need anymore boxes?...Well the answer is yes BUT in time...I no longer buy anything that looks good or just for the sake of it...due to my benifits being slashed and the fact that i have other interests now like building/selling computers....

The boxes on my wish list are...

M90...I would like another one just for a spair due to selling and giving away my other 2...have one left..there is no hurry here as i have the sunshine mix one left wich is fine by me...

Crown 970.. I just love the looks, always have...

Sanyo 920 same as the crown and i regret selling mine...

Gf 9000...although not the best box in the world i have had a few of these and would like another...

Bombeat 40 Always liked this box...and its largly down to Redbenjoe and his documantation on the other sight..

Conion c100 just want a FULLY working one after buying my last HEAP and practically giving it away..

J1 super jumbo... just love the film do the right thing and this box looks sweeet..

Panasonic rx cd80.... had one back in 87 TOTALLY loved it untill it was sabotaged by a then friend of mine through jelousy...

After this list i can retire quite happily and Never need to look for another box...

so what about you guys... whats on your lists? and why?

driptip - 2011-02-09 20:25

you are right when you said that maybe you dont need them,  well i find my self in the same situation, room is getting smaller but i also still have a wish list,  like the jvc 550 , that is going for crazy money on ebay lately, the j1 that is also making at least 400 on average ebay sell, there are so many more that i woulnt have room in my house if i wanted to get all the ones i want.

radio.raheem - 2011-02-09 20:37

One more I forgot to mention driptip is that BIG panna of yours..I would like one...One thing i wont be buying is anymore 3 peice..well maybe a studio 1m but thats it....My place is so small driptip I just wonder how I coped with so many boxes...but I have slimmed down by over 30 less...im just glad to have some space...

skippy1969 - 2011-02-10 08:43

I would't mind getting a Toshiba WX1 someday.
I would also like a Fisher PH480 or 490.........
There are a few others as well.........

radio.raheem - 2011-02-10 08:53

Wanna trade skip i have both lol

mellymelsr - 2011-02-10 10:36

Panasonic 5350
Aiwa CS 880
Sanyo 960 (Big Ben)
Toshiba S90
Conion C100F
Sharp GF777Z

After I get these final six boomboxes my collection will be pretty much complete. I like to keep my collection small enough to keep neatly in one room. At this point I have 30 neatly displayed on shelves in my man-cave and have room for 6 more. I like to listen to my radios on a daily basis and would never put any in storage, so after these 6 I will be done....at least that is the plan.

retro - 2011-02-10 11:50

1. Sharp GX-88Z

2. Sharp GX-400

3. JVC RC-550

4. JVC RC-M70

5. Panasonic RX-7200

6. JVC PC-6

driptip - 2011-02-10 12:44

Retro i have never seen the first 2 and the last one, i take those are early 90's ?

retro - 2011-02-10 16:39

Driptip, the GX-400 was similar to the 300, but with a 10 band equalizer.

http://www.recallsharp.ru/catalog/detail.php?ID=10968

The  GX-88 was this behemoth.

radio.raheem - 2011-02-11 01:09

I like both of those retro....especially the second one......i remember you wanting the second one yrs ago....its suprizing how rare some boxes are...just like my rx cd80, i havnt seen one since back in the day...

Great use of a great word.  'Behemoth', woefully underused in this day and age.

stereo2go - 2011-02-12 13:45

The bottom portion of the GX-88 almost looks like a heatsink.

I've always liked the design of the TRK-8600.  Every so often I search around for the blue one but they're pretty uncommon.

baby.boomer - 2011-02-12 15:02

Any Columbia.  They were all JDM's.  Maybe I just think the name "Beat Boy" is cool.

driptip - 2011-02-12 15:14

that BLUE perdisco looks so cool, who would of thought a blue boombox   jay.

and that BEAT BOY, looks a bit like those 70's SONYS. OR even is a AKA.

I would have thought the name beat boy was a toshiba trait..or spin off...and yup she also looks like an early sony of the 70's

Actually, the Beat Boy is a Hitachi TRK-8180 (but I like the Columbia version better).

Wish there were something we could do skip I dont use eather but one of them needs alot of work....as i melted holes in the back cabs and glued the speakers on....also i changed the speakers.....it sounds as good as an m90 but not as loud.....yea the shipping would be humungous on both as there both much heviar than an m90 and much bigger...

I've only one PC-6 on ebay since joining Stereo2go.

bredgeo - 2011-02-14 03:10

Me, I think I am good now.... When i get my last one, i will post pic(s).

Might even go back and update (or make a new) entry in the collection link. Will see.

3.db - 2011-02-16 19:50

I wouldn't mind finding a Realistic SCR-8 one of those early '80s Yorx boxes with the with the (regular) front load and slide in decks just because they look so cool, or the Wards box with all of the shortwave bands on it and the huge dial. Sorry I don't remember the model number of the last two.

Other than those I'd be happy to find just about anything.

I wish they would come up with something decent that has Sansa dock and SD card slot. The Lasonic is alright, but I'd like something better, and I don't care for iPods or iTunes at all.

Actually I'm going to put the new Lasonic on my list as it has an open dock so you can get to the iPod's controls. That means you can run Rockbox on an older iPod and scrap Apples awful firmware and drag and drop insted of having to go through the annoying extra step of having to use a program  player to "sync"; not to mention actually get your files back out without the titles being corrupt or having to dig through the stupid hidden 1,2,3, ect folders.

With the older one it'll work if you peel the sticker off of the door, but who wants to do that?

blinddarm - 2011-02-17 00:54

There is a Chance to get a Philips Roller (Red) soon....

can't wait

several for me,guys.....pioneer sk909 because i regret not getting one when me and lavloo went to wales, sanyo mx 920 and big ben, because, well,i can dream cant i lol,and well, thats about it.....but i miss the m90,70,80,gf9696 that ive had in the past.....when i still had money.....the toshy bombeat wx1 s i had were crap and the superjumbo i had was all bling and no boom so id rather not bother there!oh,and ive always fancied a nice one piece box with japanesae script on as apposed to a standard one-model not fussed, but the more unusual the better!

Looks to be the same chasis. All the knobs and switches are in the same location. I'd be willing to bet they're the same thing with the exception of diffrent speakers (the dust caps on the SCR's speakers looks smaller) l.e.d.s insted of sweep meters, and of course the case.

Good call.

A couple of other realistics are obviosly built by Sharp, and Sanyo. The SCR-6 is a GE as well as a few of their early "walkman" type radios, and radio/cassettes.

isolator42 - 2012-01-05 00:36

I would like a top of the line Cobratop Panasonic (75 or 707).

2 people I knew had one in the 90s & I was astounded by the clarity, bass & volume. Not many 1 pc boomers can do all three...

walkgirl - 2012-01-05 02:25

What is that green hedgehog thing?

I would love such one with that remote contoll thing on it which you can take of

claret.badger - 2012-01-05 03:24

I want a Panasonic 4360
JVC 550
Conion C100

JVC M90
Sanyo Bigben

maybe a Lasonic 975

and i'm done
