We're all aware of the butt-ugly 'aliens head' Panasonic DT-707's but I've noticed there's was some other impressive black one-piecers from the 1988-95 period which you just don't see around any more.
I'm sure all these were top-of-the range models back in their day & I dare say they were clear attempts to bridge the gap between boomboxes and home stereos. I particularly like the way they stuffed themselves with pointless features including meaningless additional LCD displays, speaker duct and vent effects with 'power' names plus functions with 7 buttons when a simple switch was better.
Yeah, should be OK now. There was another one I can't recall the name of, think it was a Sharp or a Sanyo but it had these great industrial-looking speaker ducts running around the back towards the sides.
You mean, the sanyo MCD-950. I still have mine. Decks works, but, cd is kapput. Wished i could get her fixed.
That'sthe one rich...It's only available from japan..a shame the postage prices have shot up of recent...there asking £150 these days for anything decent..
That Sanyo does not run on batteries, was posted before about that. Almost picked one up local here a while back.

You are correct man...not running on battries seems pointless to me as you may as well invest in a good old stack system .....the ed90 is also a good egg congrats.
Yeah, that`s right, no batteries. Cris. When he came for the boxes, he didn`t want it. I`m glad really. I have a service manual for it. It`s not well put together.

Nice one retro. I have seen that before. Japan is a gold-mine for this stuff. Anyone got a pic of the victor rc-x999, with motorised rabbit ear speakers. I`d love one.

buddy how are you Radio Raheem, and thank to US that with out even thinking about it, we are saving them from the dumpsters and land fills, while we enjoy the hell out of them with love ofcourse.
Im good thanks Driptip I think i pm'd you about my hard times bro..i cant remember but hey thanks for asking...without my radios and building computers I think i would of gone insaine by now...with losing my best friend and my mum a few months ago...but hey least im off alcahol now my friend....regarding radios i have had to drastically slim down wich was HARD but I still have my faves lad...RADIOS will always be my passion like yours...they keep me going....I hope things are better with you HUGO realy i do...
ive never been an egg fan-had them in the 90s as a kid when they were new....mainly panasonic cobra tops,had a couple more recently,but i normally sell them on when i pick them up-its very rare i keep an egg-that said the sanyo a bit further up in this post with the bass tube (mcd955 isnt it) i would definately hold onto.....looks fantastic that does

Fisher had a couple of impressive ones with vented speakers and killer sound, but man were they awkward to lug around. Their odd as thick as wide shape was ill suited for portability. Add to that one of the worst on the go formats of all time.
