JVC KABOOM series

For several years I have wanted to purchase a KABOOM, my understanding they were first manufactured in 1998 ?  advertised during the 98 games. I am interested in the first generation with the massive subs /sound ie cassette player. I recently landed a iphone 4 , so I want a player to use for when I am playing music , either from the ipod or satellite radio. I am looking at the  RV -NB50 basically for the iphone does anyone have information in regards of this model ..if the iphone will actually dock as it does in other dock products.

Thank you.

I often use one of many JVC's with my iphone. The sound is awesome, I use the line in audio jacks.  I have several (Memorex) docks within my household, that has a bang for the buck usage picked them at the Xpress Cargo depot $20.00 CDN ... Just wondering if anyone here actually heard a ipod-iphone with a Kaboom, especially the RV -NB50 ...

The iPod holder looks handy but I didn't notice any line in for satellite radio.  That would be a must-have for me.  Like driptip, I use that for my satellite radio.  Would you just use the FM transmitter instead?

Not sure about the new ones but it's safe to say that they have the same problem the older models did. When plugged into the wall they sound great, but on batteries they're wimpy at best.
The problem is that they are designed to draw lot more current than D batteries are capable of producing.
They work on batteries but with a substantial compromise in sound.

Did know there was a issue when using with (batteries ) with the iphone 4 when jail broken it can be a satellite radio. The dock is all required , there are so many options (apps) .

from what i read the new kaboom is far inferior in sound compaired to the older ones...I would just by an older kaboom with cassette and use line in.....

One of the old ones had bass, mid, and treble adjustments on it. It was the one with the mic/guitar input and drum pads
The new ones just have that dumb "rock", "pop", whatever pre-set thing and a knob for the subs. I don't know how those got started or why, but I sure do wish they'd go away. Give me good old bass and treble or even one of those lame tone knobs any day.
