I was just wondering how many people still listen to original hip hop , rap or electro from the 80s on their ghettoblasters which I think it sounds great on.If you do ,what was your favorite track or artists .Has any else like me got the new Streetsounds Electro that just been released.Let us know.
ghettoman - 2011-05-23 02:10
i got all the streetsounds electro on Mp3,i dont listen to it much anymore, but its hard to say a fave track, probebly Cybertron-Clear,but there is a few good ones,i also used to like ray gun omics,i miss the 80s.
you are right, electro and older music does sound good on boxes, i think its because it was recorded quieter than modern music..its what ghettos were made for.
i have'nt got the new album..

Tyrone Brunson – The Smurf
Hashim – Al-Naafish
I’ve got all the Electro series on vinyl and some of the Street Sounds too
ghettoman - 2011-05-23 02:21
damm it it toocool, they are good ones,i was listening to Al Naafish the other day..,i might have to go and dig out my old cd's and give them a blast..
Talking of modern music on boxes, the worst box for modern music, that distorts the most,is the Lasonic Trc975,you just cant play modern stuff with the loudness on without the bass coughing and flapping..

I mostly try to keep it what these box's were made for in the first place which was blasting out Rap music, Schooly D though and Run-Dmc get first choice for me but punk's used them too" plus too many fav's to mention as in the beginning we did have mix tapes but they would cost you...not like today's music as you can get anywhere.....oh and i use only my copied cassettes neva the originals...Cool Topic.!!

In my radios, allways plays Electro Funk, Funk with Live Instruments, Old School Hip Hop, New School "REAL" Hip Hop, Slow Jams, House Music (house from 80s and early 90s)...
Hardly use the radios in the house (only for make videos of them).
I like to open the garage on weekends, put them to CRANK facing the street, or to cheer up a barbecue, or on the basketball court ...
Cheers!!!

I still play the cassettes I recorded in the 80's and 90's on my boxes today. The tapes are Mostly funk, R&B, Disco, and Hip hop. I recently found two well used MA-XG's, and Metal Vertex full of old school goodies while rummaging through my old tapes.

See you there then
My brother & I were at the infamous Public Enemy gig at Hammersmith & a fair few others in the 80s: Stetsasonic, RunDMC, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Eric B & Rakim, Davy DMX...
Without meaning to be rude, we were easy to spot & probably will be at this StreetSounds reunion as well...
toocool4 - 2011-05-24 05:05
Just bought the ticket cool.
I was at the Public Enemy It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back gig in Brixton Academy.
I remember flying back from New Zealand just in time to goto the gig, I landed about 7 in the morning to goto the gig that evening man I was tired but I loved it.
Flavor Flav made the show he kept diving of stage and every time security ran to rescue him, he would run to the other side of the stage and dive of again it was a cool night.
isolator42 - 2011-05-24 05:16
The Public Enemy gig I went to was in Nov 1987 (with Eric B & LL Cool J). Man, it got a bit tasty that night. No more hip-hop gigs at Hammy after that one - it was Brixton Academy all the way...

My JVCs are long since gone, but I do remember the best songs to play on my M70 and PC-5. Heck, I even remember that The Gap Band's ''Burn Rubber (Why You Wanna Hurt Me) sounded awesome on my JVC RC-646. On the M70, it was Zapp's "More Bounce to the Ounce" and "Superfreak", by Rick James. On the PC-5, it was Quincy Jones' "Ai No Corrida".
