Back a GOOOOOOOOOD few years ago, when I had bought my GF 9696, a few weeks after that the amp chip of the left channel died, I need to get it fixed (I wanted to do it myself, thus needed a schematic/or-what-ever....)

I Yahooed/Googled for info.... And Stereo2go did not stop popping up.

It always said "Free" in one way or another... But (being that I was not very computer savvy) I did not trust this "Free" word until I said to myself, "What the hell, lets have a look!"

It turned out to be the best decision I had made in a long time (besides my adorable Wife)!

True I now have a normal full-time job -9 to 5- and that back 6/7 years ago I had a full time pay for a part-time job, thus was more on ST2G then now... I miss the days!

In the early 80 i got my first real box,i was obsessed with them ever since,i used to buy and sell them in the late 80s,and through the 90s,my girlfriend and friends thought there was something wrong with me because i never moved on from boxes,then in early 2000s i got my first internet connection,first thing i typed was ghettoblaster,click search and found pocketcalculatorshow.com (early version of stereo2go) Still by Paul.. clicked on it and joined,and there before me was a website full of fellow collectors,i was shocked that there were others interested in stereo's,i thought it was just me..then it began..i think one of the first people i spoke to was beanhead,who later became retro  who else was on the first site ? any of you oldies out there ?? in (i think) 2002 my name was apb330..

It must have been back in 2003 when me and my friend tim stumbled upon pocketcalculators..as i wanted to buy a real boombox bry (been buying radios all my life)....blown away by what we saw on there (especially an sk909) tim found here and joined..so i used to post under his account with the infamous name (rimmer36) every box i have ever wanted i have had..including 5 m90's at one point,,,,sadly tim has passed on but I still have here and most of my radios...good thread bredgeo nice one

WOW   i can't remember exactly when it was but, I think it was 2001 or 2002....    I was looking for my childhood boombox and found the pocket calc. site and a link for stereo2go.   Been on here since.

I've been a skateboarder since '87 - bmx since '82 - and got back into old school bmx back in '02

Collecting old bmx's you start thing of what you also had - ghetto blasters and i had a few over the years back then.

I was looking for bmx's at carboots and re-cycle centres and started seeing boxes about, but no one else going for them, and at the price i pick up gear ! it was a no brainer to get one - well one after another, after another, after another.

to me bmx/skating and ghetto blasters go hand in hand - but then again i like big bold bright shinny things that annoy other's

I was listening to the underground hip hop show featuring Stretch and Bobbito on WNYUFM one night around '01 or '02. Bobbito started talking about his vintage sneaker site and he announced that he wanted to purchase vintage boomboxes. I thought it was a brilliant idea, and  started searching immediately via altavista , and found the pocket calculator site. back in the 80's, I would walk miles to view storefronts and collect boombox brochures. I now have all of the brochures I collected back then except for one. It's an amazing M90 brochure shot in a heliport in Manhattan.

I have dealt with EJ retro..one of the best...i remember members like...ej rambo litfan joecool royal driptip so many...i remember spelling driptips name slightly wrong...back when i were a noob...man i was so paranoid about it.....this place seems to be picking up imho...more like the old days....im so glad to be a part of it again retro...about all that keeps me going in times of depression...is this place and my love for radios...cheerz my friend..

Our server crashed twice, once in 2005 and once again in 2008 so we dont remember when we first dicovered Stereo2go.  The backups from 2006 to 2008 were also lost. So we dont remember exactly when what happened to whom when... and prior to 2005 is all backed up on cd-rom but who care's.

I never knew Pocket calculator (when it was "The Site"), but I have heard of it more that once and know of a few stories.... Now, I cannot even remember what year I first joined ST2G..... Hummmmmmm?????? Is it in my profile or not???? Need to go look.... I think it was in 2004 maybe 2005... not 2003 for sure.... I would say 2005....

Memory and old age...........

I loved boomers from 1984-1988 (when HiFi & then cars & ICE took over).

In an idle moment in late March 2005 I wanted to see if I could use that there Internet to find out what audio system was pictured on LL Cool J's 'Radio' album. Google took me to pocketcalc & I was still there hours later, drinking it all in, all the old desires reawoken. So I dug out my old boomer from the attic & started restoring it. When I needed help, I registered with s2g to ask questions, & the rest is history, as they say...

i miss being able to buy great cassette tapes. they used to be everywhere. drugstores, the checkout aisles of grocery stores. of course music stores( where you used to be able to buy cds and stuff, a thing of the past now), hi fi stores(stores that sold hi-fi components and speakers, again, history).

my favorite thing to do as a kid was go to the sony store and check out their wall of cassette tapes, hf mostly for me, being a kid. but i would lust for the ux/ux-s, the metal sr were my dream tape back then and i was able to convince my parents to buy me a brick of 8 of them, that i still have. not to mention drooling over the es cassette decks and cd players.

when i got back into cassettes i was shocked that you can't get quality tape anywhere. maxell ur at dollarama and fake tdk d was all i found.

i'd love to go back in time and pick up a few boxes of super metal masters. now they are all being held for a kings randsom on ebay. sad.

Hey to all s2g member of past and present.been loving this site since 2008 found awesome storie's here great information and amazing Boombox eye candy. I basically fell into this site while looking for some boombox info,I fell in love with it almost instantly,and the oldschool member's showed 'Much Love' and obession as i felt and from there been hooked ever since so my hat goes to you Jen's for such a blast....your faithful  member......PIONEER   Cheer's to all.
