This will shock most of you,but the box i like the most is the GF8989,and obviously the GF9500 because besides the Hitachi TRK-W1E,the 9500 was my first propper box in 1983..

Only Reason why I do NOT like the Sharp GF-8989 is because of the Soft-Touch Cassette controls ( just something else to easily break ) Prefer direct "push" cassette functions! More durable they are
mellymelsr - 2011-09-03 12:48
My M70's...they are durable, have excellent sound, are great on batteries and I just love looking at those blue woofers.
ghettoman - 2011-09-03 12:50
James..beleve me my man,the GF8989 is a simple deck compared to the manual sharp decks e.g GF9090-91-92-94-95-96,GF555,GF525 Ect..the soft touch deck is way easier to repair,i've repaired many, the most p.i.t.a part of them old manual sharp decks is the tiny rubber tyre that goes on the capstan shaft and sits just behind the pinch roller, that usually melts to mush, and they are a pain to clean off, then theres the difficult task of replacing it,you cant buy the part, you have to make one yourself, and without that part, the deck is screwed, that little tyre drives the play, and when it wears out/melts,the lead reel stops turning, thus chews your tape, you dont get this little tyre on the later decks like on the GF8989/GF575/GF990 ect, just simple belts..change them, and its up and running like new again..

Oh, but they did Beanieman , I could only imagine what that sounds Like James. For me, it's the JVC RC-M90 and the GF-777, I admired them more for the design as a kid and could never stop staring at them.
radio.raheem - 2011-09-03 19:22

Looking at this - Make's me Wonder what the Cross-over Frequency this would work with 10 inch woofer's and 2 inch tweeters and or how high the woofer's would reach to, or how low the tweeter's could go to, to have a proper ballance of sound?
