all i know is when jvc announced these they offered 2 different types of bass system-super bass horn and hyper bass-ive had examples of both and the super bass horn is crap compared to the hyper bass versions-but yours, and not getting out any bass?????all i can say is take the back off and have a look whats going on in there-it might just have a build up of crap and rubbish in there blocking something-youd be surprised what crap ive taken out of boxes before!!!!

agreed.
There were two versions from JVC in this era:
Hyper Bass Sound = left & right speakers & a third, amplified ASW (acoustic super woofer) hidden in the main unit, with a port usually at the bottom front centre.
eg: PC-V2
Super Bass Horn = left & right speakers only, each with some sort of bass reflex loading/tuning (to improve low end output) either in each speaker box for a 3pc, or within the whole unit in a 1pc boomer.
eg: PC-W150
Your pc-x500 is labelled "Hyper Bass" & it also has a Hyper Bass switch so it'll be the amplified version. Unfortunately, that means it's not working. Hopefully it's just the switch. Does the red "3D" light come on?

no probs at all.thats what we are here forcoincidentally ive just picked up a pc-v77 in a grotty and abused condition, ive had to re wire both woofers and fit a new arial, give it a good clean etc but i believe my hyper bass speaker has problems too-it craps out after 3 or 4 on the volume-but heres the wierdest thing-it does it intermittantly!so for mine i think its just dirt and rubbish in the switches so will have a look inside it.....never really been a follower of these boxes but i can honestly say i do like this one
