Sony CFS-270.... a let down.

Not sure why I bought it, but $4. at the flea market, why not. It's more much more cheaply constructed then anything from Sony in the 80s I've ever seen, it's oversized for a unit having 4 1/2 inch woofers. Not sure why it has a Walkman input ? Why would you plug a radio or tape player into a unit that already has both of those formats ? Must have been their model to go against the discount brands. I'm giving the CFS-270 a D.

Sony really took a dive in the mid 80's...their 1970s bbx's like the Cf-580 were very well made. I'll stick with the early CF prefix Sony's unless it's a high end 80s model.

That looks ok,i'm surprised it sounds bad, especially with a graphic, the first thing i would do is change the speakers for some nicer free edge reflex types..sometimes sony used some crappy thin poor paper speakers that wern't up to much,so a speaker change, that should improve it alot !!

I'm not gonna mention any model numbers to avoid an argument.....But several of the early ones have forgettable sound. No bass, no treble. They sound like there's an inch of carpet in front of the speakers. Kind of like a Panny RX-5150 (oops, forgive me)
