my philips finally arrived from edinburgh,it has been in transit for a week due to xmas so i was half expecting damage,

it turned up ok and is in good nick,just needs a good clean and the deck looking at.

That's a real head turner that box, not sure they sound as good as they look but still a worthy addition to any collection! - I love mine still, it was my third or fourth boombox in my collection.

im on a roll at the minute,condition wise my latest buys have been good.

seen a couple on B.I.N on the bay for £120+..whats all that about in bad shape too,..this cost me 62 which is a lot for me

That might be the next box I add to my collection, 2 of my friends already have it.. One got his for free, and the other paid $5!  I was trying to get it from my buddy, but he took it to work (factory job) and it got run into with a forklift and damaged!

sounds ok,not as much bass as i would have liked,playback on the tape deck is a bit wonky so its gonna need em doing.

i doo love the looks of these,ok they may not sound as good as they look,but neither do Crown SZ5100,but like the crown,the 8444 is pleasing to the eyes,they are great to have on a shelf and you can look at it every day,its just a nice box to have,and yes they are finally getting recognition and prices are rising all the time..

if i am not mistaken you can if you switch it to tape then press play you have line in . do it with no tape in .

have you tried pressing the record/pause button in sm,this enables the line in to work with an ipod,

to much messing about for me doing that though,but it does work

ok ill give that a go 

im going to give it a try as it seems to be the way to do it
